First off have you dwonloaed the Skyrim Script Extender? https://steamhost.cn/app/365720/ I beleive the Dev said you needed this to work, if you do not have it installed, then download it...don't worry it does all the work for you and you never have to toy with it again (YAY!!)
Second if you have that, when you start your game you should presented with a window like this: http://tinypic.com/r/9zlxyt/9 what you have to do is click on the data option (as highlighted here).
Once you click that then you are presented with a window like this: http://tinypic.com/r/156pls7/9 you need to make sure there is a check mark beside Khajiit Lydia (as seen here), click "ok", then click exit. Please ignore where it says "SkyUI", "Racemenu" and "racemenuplugin" as these are mods i found and added on my own and not needed for Lydia at all.
Restart your game but wait for the writing in the lower left to read "finished Syncronizing subscription mods", then click play. If when you start the game Lydia is not beside you, then you need to travel (or fast travel) to where she is. If you have not gone anywhere with her*, then she will be at Dragons Reach in White run.
You may, or may not see her as a Khajitt, but do not worry, as you save the game extit out of the game and re-enter at that point. It might take a few moments longer to load, but never fear for she will be the khajitt infront of you.
*it is worthy to note that if Lydia is dead in a dungeon, on the road, under water etc etc etc, this will ~not~ bring her back to life. Further more Lydia is NOT immortal, she can die. I found this out when she was trying to protect my sorry scales and got turned into cat chow. Talons are crossed that in ten game days she is back at the house.
well the main thing here is that it is working :D
