The magic skill is something I forgot to remove. It was something I was experimenting with. I decided not to keep it because it doesn't really fit that well with the books. In Narnia magic was used by very few and I think it's probably best not to give the player any magic powers that would give them too much of an advantage.
I think you should keep it, but to make it fit in with the books, make it for every 20 points of intellect you get 1 spell, and make the learning limit 3. (To make magic hard to get)

Narnia as a world, has strong magic. Nymphs, hags, fairies, witches, and deities are all races in Narnia that practice magic regularly and while it was uncommon for humans to perform magic, there were cases of people studying to learn how to use magic themselves. So, I'd say that 20 points on intellect is kind of harsh per spell. I'd assume you could hide the spells in books and force the player to read the books to gain the knowledge and understanding of how to use that spell.

Just saying, It took Lucy about 40 seconds to learn how to use the book of incantations in both the book and movie.
