Unit Suggestions
Enter any unit suggestions you may have here. If I make your unit I will give you credit, but be patient as I have a decent list of ideas already.

Skaven units coming next! My plans include Warpguard, Black Rats, Albino Stormvermin and Cultists of the Yellow Fang.

May I suggest a few more Skaven units (probable RoR)? The Rat-Tank and Warpstone Mutants :P
And a rather unlikely suggestion: Getting the Kurnoth Hunters as a tier 5 unit for Wood Elves? We need more Forest Spirits and they don't break the aesthetic feel or fluff of the faction.

The Rat Tank has currently been made as part of Unique Steam Tanks II and there is an SFO version. It is by, I believe, zombieflanders. He is a great modder so I recommend supporting him.

Do you have a link for Warpstone mutants? I have found several Skaven end times regiments that use 'warp' as part of their name, but not 'Warpstone'. Only thing I found was one post online mentioning 'Warpstone Mutants' as a Clan Skryre unit, but no details. And as for Kurnoth Hunters, I am hesitant to touch Age of Sigmar units. I will come back to the Wood Elves eventually, and I have an idea for a Forest Spirit unit.

Warpstone mutants were a unit used in a scenario between Clan Pestilens and Clan Skryre (same scenario where we got the Rat-Tank). Link: http://redelf.narod.ru/w6/w6_s_klawmunkast.html

Yea... The only thing I liked about AoS was the Hunters. They could fill the anti-large missile unit with their bows (as well as being *decent* in melee) and forest spirits hammer unit when using swords (anti-infantry) or Scythes (anti-large with larger AP ratio). Wish I could mod them myself but apparently it's not possible because I can't make the Durthu model (which is the closest to these) use a bow or scythe.

I'll wait to see what you come up with :)

Ah! Thanks for the link! I will definitely make those. As for the hunters, yeah, trying to give animations to a model that is not rigged for them results in stretched textures and general ugliness. You either need to reskin a model that is rigged for said animation, or make do with an animation for the existant model that looks 'close enough' which is the route I chose for the Skink archers and Dwarf Spearmen.
Shas'O Fr05ty 30 Nov, 2017 @ 6:41am
Any way to figure out what animations a model has? Or is it possible to use an animation from one model onto a different one?
Tanit  [developer] 30 Nov, 2017 @ 6:50am
The animation used is stated in the table 'land_units_tables' in the column headed 'man_animation'. Using the table 'culture_to_battle_animations' any animation can be given to any culture group, and then any animation can ge given to any unit. The problem is that it doesn't end up looking right. For example, when I gave the human spear animation to the dwarf warriors, they looked mostly fine, but their arms had turned into two long strings of pink on either side of them. Why is this? I don't exactly know, I assume it has to do with the way that the animations in the game are rigged to the skeletons (the wireframe used to control animation). So two models might both look like they are the same shape, but the rigging underneath may be different.

So generally I can give a n animation rigged for any human skeleton to any other human unit, and, though I have not tried it, possibly give elven animations to humans, but I can't give a human animation to a skink, or at least I can't without visually breaking the unit. So you could give the Durthu model a bow animation from the glade guard, but he might end up looking twisted inside out in the battle, I don't know for certain, I haven't tried that one in particular.

Thanks! At least that means that making changes to the Warhawk Riders to have both spears and bows should be possible :) I'll give it a try with the Durthu thing once I actually manage to get a handle on all this

Search online for Sebidee's unit making tutorial, it is very helpful.

I would suggest Spirit Hosts as a VC lorefriendly unit.
Tanit  [developer] 3 Dec, 2017 @ 5:29am
They were originally on my list, but they have been added as part of Mixu's Mousillon overhaul, and are available for all VC factions I believe.

If I could Id like to suggest some divided warriors for Chaos. I hate that Steelblade has a monopoly on the different gods as his mod is fairly incompatible because he does so much with it. Not that its a bad mod just a bit much
Tanit  [developer] 16 Dec, 2017 @ 4:08am
Yeah, I was just looking at that mod earlier and despairing its current incompatability with SFO, and how many mod slots it uses up. (Especially as W2 has been lowered to about 60 usable mods at a time) If I can figure out how to skin units (Still banging my head against a brick wall on that one) or get a skinner to work with me, then I will tackle them.
YinYangTW 16 Dec, 2017 @ 4:15am
Maybe you could ask his permission to use some of his skins. I cant say for certain but he seems like a pretty nice indidual as long as you give him credit. I really love his unique lords and units but then I have to stack on a ton of mods just to get the same experience SFO gives me. Hope something works out. If not its nice to know someone feels as I do.
