Add or change appearance traits through surgery (ugly/pretty etc) - I don't know how you'd balance this because Beautiful is very valuable, although it doesn't seem like it'd be horribly unbalancing to make someone UGLY with surgery.

I've considdered that. I'd need to do some digging into how the traits work.
If I do add that I might just allow removing the ugly and staggeringly ugly.
I can see how it might be fun to give someone the staggeringly ugly trait for the hell of it.

Doing this to prisoners should probably provoke an unhappy thought, both for them and maybe for colonists too (but maybe make that a user-controllable option). Not as severe as organ harvesting but it should be pretty bad I think.

Both interesting ideas. I've been considdering a mood debuff that lasts a week or so after any of the procedures. Kinda on the principle that it would take time to get used to a major change like that. Again, lots of systems I need to dig into when I have more free time.

On second thought, this would be really just as bad as having your organ harvested, because yeah your ~organ~ is getting ~harvested~ if you're male :0 I suggest you literally just copy the bad thought from that and change the text details.

If/when the Psychology mod gets updated (https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=959814527) you really should try to make your mod aware of it, because Tynan's impementation of gender includes preference, which doesn't really make sense except from a programmer's approach. Psychology adds a separate stat for preference (the Kinsey scale) and I think you probably wouldn't have to do anything, but I hope this integrates well because it'd be fun :)

I try not to get deep into that. There's alot of people out there that get rather pasionate about the topic. There's a mod that inspired this one to a degree, and I know the author got a lot of hate over it. I'd hate to see that happen here. If it coincidentally plays well with Psychology, great. Otherwise, I'm not really interested in patching it.

I'm pretty sure you woudln't have to do anything tbh, Psychology completely overrides the vanilla trait/mechanics in that department.

that'd be optimal. all I'm doing at the moment is changing the trait then forcing the sprites to update. I appreciate the input.

I still really think you should add a mega unhappy thought for prisoners having these operations done to them, especially gender change.

FYI It turns out this works exactly the same with Psychology, because that mod makes no allowance for what might happen if your gender changes, but I'll bring it up with that mod author because it's probably more in his ballpark anyway.

The Psychology mod author doesn't think it's a good idea from a programming standpoint to trap for a gender change event:

"That's kind of an obscure condition. The only way to test for that is to store the pawn's cached gender, which seems inefficient. Whatever mods change the pawn's gender can always include an optional check to modify the Kinsey value if Psychology is present."

It's not gonna stop me using your mod because it's hilarious but it just doesn't make a lot of sense that a grown person's brain stuck into another body suddenly flips preference :shrug: Maybe if you added something like this you could make it a user-controllable option (and maybe not the default).
