Warcelona (Spain). Quality: 9/10, Difficulty: 8.5/10, Length: Short-Medium. Played On Expert.
Warcelona (Spain) is an excellent Custom Map all-around. It’s a short-but-sweet campaign that packs a ton of high-quality environments into a short time period.

Visually, Warcelona is easily one of the best-looking Custom Maps for Left 4 Dead 2, and the opening church locale is full of character, with dramatic lighting, ominous ambience, the booming sound and shaking from nearby explosions and gunfire, the creepy sounds of a baby crying and a woman singing a lullaby to it (which echoes through the church), creepy demonic art and children’s drawing of the Infected on the walls, lots of custom wall writing/lore, and even custom NPCs idly going about their 'normal' day inside the church.

Besides the opening area, the entire campaign is filled with custom assets, art, wall writing, and even some custom melee weapons; which all make it feel very authentic to its setting, alive, and unique.

The pool room on the first Chapter notably felt a little out of place, being too ‘clean’ and clinical compared to the rest of the environment portrayed; although this is a minor nitpick (and it did look cool).

The first Safe Room’s ‘stolen’ supplies fakeout got an effective laugh out of everyone (this also notably prevents you from getting ammo for the Hunting Rifle from the first Chapter up until the subway entrance, so be sure to bring a Magnum and use the Rifle sparingly if you intend to keep it).

In the subway on the second Chapter, there is a scripted Moderate Gauntlet event, which also had a Wandering Witch present.

The third Chapter features a large slew of back-to-back Crescendo events from the vanilla campaigns, and provides a large amount of Bile Bombs and Pills/Adrenaline, thus resulting in it quickly becoming a frantic rush to the Safe Room.

The Chapter 4 Finale of Warcelona, set within and around a modified version of the famous Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya, is a notoriously difficult Hard Gauntlet + Tank-Hard Gauntlet-Tank-Hard Gauntlet-Tank-Run To The Helicopter.

To make this Finale more manageable, be sure to use the explosive barrels to clear Common Infected on the early parts of this Finale (avoid shooting them near teammates), try to get the loot from the guaranteed Fallen Survivor that appears on this Finale, and don’t backtrack through the notorious Vent during the third Tank.

Instead, try to loop him around the central pillar in the room that he spawns in, and then run past him. The escape helicopter is just a little beyond the final Tank’s room.

Ultimately, Warcelona is easily one of the best and most beautiful Custom Maps on the Workshop. And it’s well-designed and a heck of a lot of fun, to boot. If only it were a bit longer, and had more weapon options, it could have easily been a 10/10 experience.
