but i think i found a really annoying bug/stupid thing, the Main Tree thingy can be upgraded to reduce the upkeep cost by 10%, 15%, 20%, and 25%. but this buff only counts if your Army is in the Wood Elfs main main area, wich only supports the boring camper playstyle.
maybe lower it by 5 or 10% on all ranks and make it permanent for all Armies no matter where they are?
Tested this on both quenellas (minor settlement) and parravon (major settlement).
I dont see this mentioned anywhere in the OP so i'm reporting it as a potential bug.
Also Tier 4 minor settlements cost amber that is not covered by the "Amber forest" building, meaning that you lose amber to upgrade to tier 4. but if you want to spend the amber elsewhere and dont upgrade you get pestered by "settlement upgrade available" for each minor settlement for the rest of the compaign.
It doesnt seem worth ever paying the extra amber to upgrade considering that upgrading the oak, getting research or buying amber units is always going to be a better option and take priority.
Am I missing something here or is there another way to offset the loss of amber?
Lastly I think the amber forest itself is a bad idea. the problem with is it that you dont ever know how much amber you actually have access to, since you will have provinces where the major settlement and amber forest is upgraded but the minor settlements are not meaning you have more amber than you should temporarily or the reverse where the minor settlements are upgraded but the major settlement and amber forest isnt - meaning you have less (and thats not even accounting for incomplete provinces, different size provinces, settlements getting razed/sacked etc).
It only gets worse the further you go into the campaign and keeping track of it is not easy (or fun).
I hope you can look into this because I otherwise enjoy this mod a lot.
Regarding the tier 4 minor settlement issue, taking parravon and quenellas as an example, in vanilla you would get 3 amber (2 from parravon and 1 from quenellas) but with your mod at maxed out buildings you would only get 2 amber (+5 from teir 5 amber forest, -2 from tier 5 parravon and -1 from tier 4 quenellas) right?
Again I dont see the incentive to give up the extra 1 amber to upgrade quenellas to tier 4 when upgrading the oak, research and amber cost units should be your first priority.
but if you dont upgrade the game will notify you about upgrading every turn for the rest of the campaign. Am I missing something here?
Whats worse is that at tier 1 you actually get +4 amber (2 parravon, 1 amber forest and 1 quenellas)
then at tier 2 you then get +5 amber (2 parravon, 2 amber forest, 1 quenellas).
it just makes it super confusing as to how much amber you actually have to spend assuming the intention is that you should max out all your settlements.
If the whole point is just to give you less amber at the end of the day doesnt it make more sense just to increase the cost of upgrading the oak or research directly than having such an awkward economy?
If its ultimately supposed to give the same amber as before then its just needlessly complicated with no pay off or are you supposed to have some un-upgraded settlements to get more amber than you should and suffer endless "settlement upgrade" notifications?
And normally especially if you are playing on harder difficulties you cant really afford going amber building with a tier 2 settlement, but if you can deffend it and are confident you can get a huge amber boost. Wood elves campaign gets really easy once you get going and have confederated etc, thats why i dont want this mod to give 10 amber a full elite stack 20/20 garrison and 5-8 additonal building at tier 5. Its not a cheat mod, i actually wanted to make Wood Elves campaign harder late game and a victory more satisfying that just occupy a couple of provinces (with no option to upgrade) and then VICTORY.
A few things after playing with your mod for a while.
1/ Looks like not all major settlements have your new building chains, I had occupied Bastonne at one point and I could only build the lvl1 base buildings. Not sure why, could be a mod conflit for all I know. Same with Myrmidens.
2/ Considering that you've made the settlements upgradable it would be nice if you could implement lvl3&5 harbours for the WE because it seems they can only build lvl1 harbour.
