Issues with boomrats/boomalopes
Was wondering if anyone was having the same issues im having.

The mod obviously, acts as intended, as far as I can tell. However when it comes to boomrats and boomalopes the predators don't seem to eat them (this makes sense). Given im playing in a 24/7 summer biome there isnt really a winter for a soft reset of the local population, and their numbers have skyrocketed.

The increased prey then in turn increases the amount of predators on the map, however tghe predators pretty much just starve themselves to the point of attacking other predators and my colonists consistently. (Because there are no more squirrels and rats running around)

My game is continuing to slow down as I approach nearly double my max set population/limit for the map

Was curious if there was an easy way to fix this outside of using dev mode or triggering a mass suicide mini nuke via psychic tools?

I've locked my colony inside a small valley surrounded by mountains, but their numbers are growing exponentially.

Am I missing something in the settings?

Thanks!

Yup this was going to happen since nothing is willing to attack them but players. only thing to do is grab your guns and kill them all.

on the plus side, they do start fires, do that while they are sleeping you might catch some extra kills for free.

This has more or less ruined one of my games I have going now, since I have about 500 - 1000 boomrats on my map at my main base. For me at least, quite simply, if the animal is not preyed upon, why does it count toward the prey limit?

Either way, I can see how this would be an easy oversight and potentially difficult to fix. The mod that was added recently to remove boomrats/boomalopes from the game is a decent temporary fix, well, once it is working lol

But yeah, I now have about 400 predators roaming my land, ignoring boomrats, killing each other, my chickens, etc, and there really isn't anything I can do about it apart from packing up and moving my main colony somewhere else. Disappointing
I just leave the dev tools on and give the boom rats a mental break of BERSERK (it's the first of the two main menu 'mental' choices, about 2nd from right column, 60% of the way down the screen). Then click 2nd choice in menu where it gives BERSERK option. BoomRat will find other rats (hopefully) and start going nuts and they will blow up. Chain-reaction if you have enough of them, and a whole lot of fire, too, enough to trigger rain if you do a few too many of them.

Repeat as necessary until the author fixes or you remove this mod. It's the only way to fix it, besides building something that makes wild aminals go bonkers.

Really stinks that there's this oversight, but the mod is free, so no warranty.

If you're still having this problem there's 2 mods that'll help out, Boom Boom Is Prey by WalkingProblem, and BoomMod by Jaxe
