Rainbow-reflections and how to get rid of them
First of all, sorry for those ugly rainbow-cubemaps. An error occurred during building cubemaps and resulted in random-colored pixels. I did not recognize and fix it in time for the release, so sorry for that.

The good news is: You can fix them! Here is how:
  • Method 1: Open the console and enter "buildcubemaps" (without the ""). This might or might not work, depending on how you aquired the addon, but if it works, the reflections will work as intended and probably will stay fixed until you re-download the addon.

  • Method 2: You can disable the reflections by entering "mat_specular 0" (without the "") into the console. This will turn off reflections for everything, lowering the visual quality. This setting might persist between maps, so if you notice missing reflections on other maps, you can turn it back on with "mat_specular 1".
Let me know if this works for you

It didn't work for some reason. I don't mind the rainbows, but the ground is invisible and there seems to be a large amount of missing textures. Not the pink and black dots, but most of the map is just invisible. I'd like to know how I can get this fixed.

Maybe you need to activate cheats ("sv_cheats 1") to run the commands. For the missing textures, try the tips in the other pinned thread.

there is what i get when executing the first command:
maps/gm_floatingworlds_3.bsp is not writable!!! Check it out before running buildcubemaps.

This is when you have aquired the map over the workshop. You can't write cubemaps into the packed archives, hence the error. You could try to extract the archive and write cubemaps into that version, but I dont have time to test that right now. The second method should work fine for you

I actually love the rainbow reflections, I assumed they were an error but they just look cool.

@Pinhead Larry

Yeah they're something eye-catching alright. If it was a different map or, Say, Object that had those kind of reflections (Disco ball? :P), They would be most welcome there.

I actually don't really mind the rainbow textures! In fact, here's a screenshot I took of one of them!

Why dont you rebuild the cubemaps yourself and update the map?
SuspiciouslyAwesome  [developer] 22 Feb, 2019 @ 8:05am
I don't really have the setup anymore. I'd probably need to recompile the map and for that I'd need to gather all custom resources I made back then. Not sure how long it would take, but I don't really have time for it in the foreseeable future. Also, it might create new errors since I haven't worked with the engine in a long time

I suppose you could update the addon to include a lua file in autorun that forces the command to build cube maps

Maybe, but I have no idea how to do that :)

The custom resources are all in the workshop GMA file. You just need to extract them with GMAD.exe, which is included with the Garry's Mod files under GarrysMod\bin. You just:

1.Make an empty folder somewhere
2.Create a shortcut to GMAD.exe and put it in the folder
3.Download the workshop GMA and put/copy it to the same folder
4.Drag the GMA over the GMAD shortcut and release
