Custom Namelists

a little help with distring naming?
I tried everything I could but my districts don't name themselves after the patterns I included. It works just fine with roads and cim names. I use the same pattern formatting as for roads. Basically I started off with Ilion's Custom Namelists: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1249641304&searchtext=custom+names+list

here's my patterns: https://imgur.com/a/wBVq7

they are in the same file as the road patterns (Ilion's CustomPlaceNames.namelist)

Snake --
I thought that I had successfully tested/verified my District Name Patterns, but obviously, I hadn't, since I have them wrong. So, thanks for discovering this AND for letting me know.

The correct identifier for District Name Patterns is *not* "DISTRICT_NAME_PATTERN", but rather is "DISTRICT_PATTERN"

I'm sorry for having led you astray. And, again, thanks for letting me know about this.

I definitely recall seeing my District Name Patterns used when I was testing all this. So, it must be that at some point as I was putting together the final form of the .namelist files I uploaded to the Workshop, I accidentally changed the identifier to the incorrect value.

Awesome! Thanks for the fast reply! You and Markus should definitely make a list of all identifiers and placeholders in the mod page description and/or readme/header of your templates.

That's something I keep intending to do. Since I need to fix my mod, I plan to include such a list with the update.
Is there a way to set it up so you can have different sets of district names, by using the "keys" in the code? I'm working in a language different from English, so to have a masculine/feminine split with the names would be quite useful.

I don't believe so.

Assuming that you're simply not showing the beginning of the file (with the necessary XML code), I don't see anything wrong with your patterns.

But, it might be that you are trying to include too many. I suspect that there is a size limit on the total Strings.
