Custom Sounds (Music+Voice Clips) no longer working?
I've found that, as of the last few days, ALL the custom music and voice-over work for this campaign (and The Bloody Moors as well) no longer plays. Dead silence is all that's left. Certain other mods with custom voice clips are unaffected, RedemptionII and Suicide Blitz 2 being prime examples.

These DID work prior to my hard drive failing and having to re-install all my mods. And even now I also bothered un-subscribing from the workshop version and downloading the un-segmented gamemaps version. Still nothing. Maybe something about how the game handles audio has changed??? I really do love this campaign, and it loses a lot without the audio. Can anyone help?

Yep the audio clips are busted.

As of June 2021, the voice clips and custom music are still not working.

And so technology marches on, leaving broken experiences in it's wake. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised Valve never said anything about the changes that brought this about, nor has ever offered an explanation.

Custom sounds don't work for me either, not on the Workshop or Game Maps version.

However, there is a half-workaround: this collection includes the (now unlisted) Extended Edition of Dead Before Dawn with working custom audio.

The Extended Edition is apparently based on an earlier version of the campaign from before the Director's Cut. However, it's still mostly the same and it even has a bonus level at the beginning for a total of 6 chapters, hence the name. I just played through it and it's still pretty damn good, especially since the audio actually works.
Strange but sounds works fine for me, and I have 3 versions of this campaign
maybe manually rebuilding sound.cache (for this campaign only) will help?

how to: unpack the vpk's with sound folders, go in game, type in console
snd_buildsoundcachefordirectory C:\blablabla\root

Nah, I tried multiple campaigns to check the audio back when, sound was busted in all of them.
