Influence Clarification
I really dig the influence system, but could stand to have it clarified a bit.

To me, it feels like there are two 'trees' for each character, a red one and a blue one. Each shapes their outlook a bit differently, and determines their final skill learned.

When a red 'Influence Increased' message appears, the red score increases.
When a blue 'Influence Increased message appears, the blue score increases.
When a red 'Influence Shifted' message appears, the...red score increases and blue decreases
When a blue 'Influence Shifted' message appears, the...blue score increases and red decreases?

And, ultimately, the party member will either learn their 'red' or 'blue' skill?

How accurate is this? Can it be broken down any further?

Regardless, I think the system is outstanding. Its inclusion for [DOUBLE-SPOILER REDACTED] and [DOUBLE-SPOILER REDACTED], along with their full skill trees, really caught me off guard with the twist at the prison. Pretty sure my jaw has stayed dropped for a week now. Well-played (and I hate you).

Glad you're digging it! And yeah, one of my regrets is that the influence system is rather opaque... I probably should have either removed the UI altogether, or gave much more explicit messaging about what was happening, since I think the result ended up being confusing.

You're right about almost all of this, except that there is no decrease in the score when the "Shifted" message appears. Blue "Influence Shifted" means that the party member was previously red-dominant, and are now gaining in blue. Blue "Influence Increased" means that they were already blue-dominant, and are now further gaining in blue.

And, yes, the party member ultimately learns either their "red" or their "blue" skill. They can continue gaining "red" and "blue" points after this, which could affect their final fate at the end of the game, but they can only learn one of the two skills.

Thanks again for the note, I'm pleased to hear that the story & mechanics were effective!

ah so it's not my character's standing with the other character (favor) as it was in Caldecott, it's the other character's personal ethos or direction that changes :winter2019joyfultearsbulb:
