Hoping to avoid spoiling anything, but for the sake of my sanity, would those who know mind making it perfectly clear to me there is no opportunity at all to prevent one or both events? Seems real odd that given abilities that exist in this very campaign, you don't have a solution to address this situation in a more beneficial manner.
