When the World Stopped Making Sense

We need to talk
Loup I know you're probably buisy right now but you can't be so stubborn as you are right now and Removing one's hard work just because they added in something you didn't like isn't mature behavior if this keeps up people aren't going to want to work with you on this amazing mod so please, let the WTWSMS Discord be official and let others suggest ideas because some of those ideas are really good ones.

Not even a part of the discord, but I'll put in my two sense.

Loup, this is your mod. You wrote these custom events. You drew the map. You learned about the fall of rome and a space of time little people actually know about, and was barely recorded. Than, you overhauled the world and created a new one in a game over a million people have bought.

This mod is special. There are many like it, but none have ever given anyone this perspective or experience. It is unique, it is amazing. But this is an imperfect mod in an imperfect game, and improving this mod is a concern that more than one person should have to deal with. Listening to ideas can only broaden your perspective.

Thank you, and good luck.

FYI, this is Enlil's mod, not Loup's.

First of all, I don't know what you do on that private Discord, but I'm not the sole developer working on this mod and didn't create it. It is not "my" mod in any sense of the word. The word I would use is "our" actually, because personally I value a notion of a community and a team, but if you want to be precise Enlil created it, so it is "his" in the sense that he is both the creator and lead developer. If you are curious on who else is involved the full list of credits can be found here: https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?threads/wtwsms-presentation-info-news-links.829142/#post-18690736

I have simply been a developer since 2014, and haven't contributed more than anyone else. Therefore, I'm not sure what you are talking about. I haven't removed anyone's hard work out of a whim, and I haven't made any unilateral decisions. Quite to the contrary, we have a quite consensus-based approach to development both internally and externally, and have even had polls and threads on the official forum to determine the direction.

The private Discord will never be official because the forum is the official platform. Those are the Paradox forum rules, not something which is under my personal authority. Everyone is allowed to suggest things wherever they want, but we will continue to respect and enforce the Paradox rules. On the forum there are over 1327 replies with suggestions, and even more can be found here on or in the private group. Therefore I don't think speaking about one person, or just a few, is an accurate description of the situation when it comes to suggestions, since that kind of portrayal disregards all of the other contributors through the years.

In fact, most of the features we have added recently have been features suggested by others. For instance, the foederati system we added in the previous beta was made from scratch based upon the suggestions of a former developer. The melting-pots that we added in this beta were also an user suggestion, that I myself actually opposed originally, but the thorough discussion and exchanges on the matter made us agree to implement it in consensus. Same with the Rise of Islam which is in development, the final retained suggestion is largely based upon player feedback, and without said feedback and internal discussion it wouldn't look like that.

No ideas are taboo for us, as long as they fit in with the vision of Enlil, correspond with the scope of the mod and are allowed as per Paradox user modding rules they will be considered. That does not mean all ideas will be incorporated instantly, because everything on which there is disagreement can be debated and discussed on the official channels (or anywhere else, but then it is less likely to be added since there would be no direct contact with those actively working on the mod). If something ends up not being added for some reason, it will be explained accordingly. Please raise the specific cases, we are all humans and can forget things. This does not prevent you from creating sub-mods and adding it yourself though, something which we encourage.

Hopefully that clears up the misconceptions or misunderstandings, please send me a PM on the forums, a private message here or a message in this thread if you have any further concerns about decision-making.

but what about all of Turtleshrom's stuff just because he was mean to you doesn't mean that you get to remove all of his hard work sure he did some spartan stuff and copyrighted things like that but you can't just remove a lot of his good features and turn down a lot of fixes he intends to add, so please before I have to fight back please let Turtle in
Loup  [developer] 9 Jun, 2018 @ 10:36am
@thepoweredminers TurtleShroom is no longer a part of the mod team and will not return. He made inacceptable homophobic statements and personal attacks, and then repeatedly ignored warnings from others. His content that was approved was integrated, the rest he had at the time is his responsibility to do what he wishes to do with. He can release it as a sub-mod and share it to others as he wishes, but his attitude means he will no longer be involved in the mod development team. No "features" have been removed or stuff turned down, TurtleShroom has simply not been involved in anything regarding development since August last year due to how he behaved.

It is not a fight, it is a decision made based upon his inappropriate behaviour. Making remarks about "fight" is not going to make anyone reconsider, especially not when TurtleShroom is free to distribute his content as he wishes as long as he gives credits where it is due and requires the main mod. He can also submit suggestions, just not be involved in the team due to his behaviour.

I don't want this to be a fight but you can't lie to me like that there are features you've removed that were his work he had some fixes involving the exarcate being exclusivley jewish that have full right to be added into the main mod so stop lying and tell the truth
Loup  [developer] 9 Jun, 2018 @ 10:19pm
@thepoweredminers I have not removed any "fix" relating to the Exilarchy since no such fix has been in the main branch of the mod, making it impossible for me to remove it. That is simply a false assertion and a baseless attack, calling me a liar for something you have no clue of. The fix which was implemented regarding the exilarchy being exclusively Jewish, which caused the Sassanid empire to be force converted if it revoked in a prior beta, is something I fixed myself in a previous version. If there is a new bug you can report it to our forum in the bug reports thread.

You know this is all publicly available, right? It is impossible to "cover up" a public repository which everyone can consult freely. The very fact that anyone can access to the mod code indicates how little you have informed yourself of the subject at hand. You can see the master branch history for yourself if you don't believe me rather than coming here and making personal attacks based upon false information. But since you clearly don't want to listen to the facts and refuse to submit actual feedback rather than coming with threats, this discussion has run its course.

If you have any constructive feedback to provide based upon facts rather than libel and attacks, please do so on any official channel of the mod, or via private message if you prefer. Fake news are not welcome.

"We Need to Talk" Should Be Unlocked
This concerns the following article: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/workshop/filedetails/discussion/1247274300/1696049513770674868/

I did not ask for that article to be written. I did not start that article, and I haven't participated in it. Yet, as I am mentioned in it by name, and as Loup has misrepresented me with impunity, I believe that I am entitled to a defense.

Loup, I humbly request that you unlock the "We Need to Talk" thread and allow me to defend myself. If I am the topic of a discussion, I should be allowed to defend myself. Preventing me from saying my peace would only confirm what the others have said- as I have -about you in that article.

Dear TurtleShroom. I have merged the two threads into one since they treat the same subject. The mod Steam Workshop is not a place for your personal defence or for personal statements. I stated facts about the causes to you no longer being involved about mod development that motivated the decision. This talk thread has no place here, because none of it pertains to the actual mod content as I concluded above. Please send me a private conversation on the Paradox Forums if you wish to make personal statement which is not relevant to concrete matters in the mod.

If you however want to talk about mod features to improve, suggestions, bug reports and so on, you are more than welcome to use the available official mod-related channels. This feedback should however be grounded in facts, not baseless attacks which will be dealt with in an adequate way to debunk them.

about Holy Fury
look Loup I know that it's getting kind of close to holy fury's release date and that you kind of have a bad reputation so I was wondering if we could have the assests for the mod so we can remake it (don't worry we'll credit you)
Loup  [developer] 29 Oct, 2018 @ 12:06am
I'm not sure how to answer this. First of all, coming and saying that I have a "bad reputation" without any justification or explanation is rather odd and impolite. If there is anything "bad" I have done, I would like to know what so that it can be discussed. Coming with insinuations is never a solution.

As for the assets to "redo", the same applies for you as for anyone else. That is that you are free to do as many sub-mods as you want, but you can't reuse the whole mod to release a stand-alone. Therefore anything you release based upon WtWSMS would have to require the main mod. Of course you can also start from scratch to do another separate Migrational Era mod, but then that is not something which would be related to WtWSMS or based upon it.
