Enabling Rise of Islam "with specific gamerule" -- what does this mean?
I realize the R.o.I hasn't been enabled formally yet, but what does the mod's website mean by "You may however enable it for your own use with the specific gamerule"?

What is the gamerule to enable it, and how does that work? (I'm supposing a command line is involved but how is that activated in-game? -- or when launching the game what command addition should be used/)

Moreover, what happens then? Does Islam suddenly spawn all over the map overwriting details, equivalent to the earliest vanilla start date? (That would be my guess, but of course I don't know.)

As the wiki states: https://ck2.paradoxwikis.com/When_The_World_Stopped_Making_Sense#Why_is_the_Rise_of_Islam_currently_disabled.3F

The game rule is called "Rise of Islam" in the game rules menu, and has two options, that activate the old beta test feature concept for the Rise of Islam. By default the game rule is disabled. What happens, if it works, is that Islam spawns in the province with doomstacks similar to the Mongols and a CB. If it doesn't work nothing will happen of course, and we can't guarantee anything. I will admit that I didn't understand your follow-up question about "spawn all over the map overwriting details".

Great, thanks!

Yes, I had seen that small paragraph you linked to in the wiki, which is why I quoted that paragraph asking what the quoted part meant: because the little paragraph in the wiki didn't explain what it meant. I only found this mod since the HF update, so I haven't rolled back my vanilla install to ever get it to work yet. So I've never seen the game rules menu yet.

My guess about them spawning all over the map, was that at a certain date the game just shifts to the early vanilla status quo for Islam territory, spawning "Islam" in effect all over the map, simply as a placeholder effect (the idea being that this isn't playable, naturally, but that it would serve as a handy developer tool to test how the game in various conditions would handle "Muslim" code operations with an established population).

But I'm fine with a doomstack and CB,as long as I'm not playing in an area which would be toally overrun by the doomstack immediately! (Until you figure out a more dynamic way to achieve a feasible chance of a historical-ish result, of course.) I was planning on starting a campaign on the northwest coast of Africa, so I might be somewhat in range of the doomstack but that's okay; as you note it would be a little like being in range of the Mongol invasion. (Or the Sunset invasion. {g})

Well, I've gotten around to rolling back the vanilla version, and activating the mod (yay). But when I try to find "the game rules menu" where the "Rise of Islam" beta option is located, so that I can enable it... well, I can't even find the proper "game rules menu". I've clicked around everything obvious, but I haven't clicked the correct thing yet.

As a followup question, does enabling the option spawn a doomstack with CB immediately (assuming it works of course, which you don't guarantee), regardless of the date? Or does it wait until a particular year (or even month) and then trigger if the option is active? In other words, if I'm starting back at the earliest date and I activate the option, will it spawn a doomstack to spread Islam instantly, or will the game go along until the proper year and then check to see if the option is active?

In the When the World Stopped Making Sense game rules group, you have a Rise of Islam game rule.

It is not instant, it should happen after 590 with the Experimental Historical rule, and after 570 with the Experimental Dynamic rule.

Great, thanks! Where is the WtWSMS game rules group? How do I get there?

In the game rules menu, either you click to show it in the top selection menu or you scroll down to the bottom.

It's okay, I finally figured out where the "game rules menu" is: after I select a starting time and place, and clicking play. The window that pops up is what's called the game rules menu. I hadn't actually started a playthrough in so long, I forgot it was there! Duh, _that's_ the game rules menu. {headdesking forever} I figured I'd feel dumb when I finally found it, and I was correct!

Thanks for the other information, though, that was very helpful!
