Could a manual import be made into the vanilla game's Holy Fury update (or base game version)?
This isn't a question about when-if-ever the mod will be updated to HF or its base game equivalent. Rather I'm asking, what happens if when the date for the earliest vanilla start arrives, a "manual" port of the maps and things are made into HF (or the base game version without HF perhaps), much like converting a EU4 save point into Vicky2, or V2 into HOI4?

Maybe that's impossible, but if it's possible and feasible (even if clunky as converting EU4 to V2 manually), that would be a temporary workaround until the mod gets upconverted.

In that case, the player would roll back to the previous pre-HF stable version (using Steam), after disabling HF, and then run WtWSMS until the early vanilla start date; then save the maps and whatever else is needed for importing into a special re-install of the game with HF activated (or at least with the current vanilla version and other DLCs).

Yes, you could definitely make a converter from WtWSMS into vanilla. Your WtWSMS save file would become a vanilla mod. However it would be a massive undertaking, and by the time that is done WtWSMS would be updated to Holy Fury, and maybe even future update as well. So this has nothing to do with Holy Fury and wouldn't be temporary. It would be a project to convert WTWSMS saves into vanilla.

Oh, okay. Thanks. It's hard to believe that WtWSMS is so vastly much more different from vanilla CK2 than EU4 is different from CK2 (or so much more different than V2 is different from EU4, or than HOI4 is different from V2. And those can be ported over manually in a clunky fashion with a few hours' work. Or with less than a few hours work using the CK2 to EU4 converter.)

It is definitely not more different than that. But as I said, if you want to automate the process you have to make your own converter, which requires a lot more work than using an existing tool.
