Is journal showing existing creatues or possible creatures?

Hey together,

i wonder if the journal shows existing or possible creatures on the map? Somebody knows that?

I asked because I noticed while using "Crystal Isles Dino Addition" not all creatures are shown in the journal but some hours later now I see a bit more creatures in the journal.
