Immersive Taming
Hasukiiken 3 Jul, 2022 @ 3:43am
Identifier for animals being tamed for other players
( PVE Server )

Several instances of immersive tames being killed by other players who thought they were just wild dinos has prompted a request to add something other players can see to help identify a dino that is being tamed - this could be an option to toggle on or off but it needs to be something easily seen by everyone in the immediate area the glow would probably not be enough.

I post here as a discussion so that it will not be swallowed up by the comments that follow also to allow other to give their thoughts and stories to this quirk of the mod :)

Yes, I can see someone thinking they are being helpful killing something that looks to be attacking you. Also it has no tame progress or torpor indicator like when you normally tame an animal (at least that other players can see). It is not knocked out on the ground either.

I would suggest for now, if this is your server where this happens, make a rule to not kill or start a tame near other players. Players should only do taming and killing near another player when invited. This solves many problems, not just this mod. I've seen the same happen with other mods like Shiny Dinos. In that case, one server made a rule you must type in global anytime you start a tame. No one on that server is allowed to tame or kill a shiny dino without writing in chat. Of course, there are typically not more than 5 shiny at one time, so that won't work for immersive, which literally applies to anything that can be tamed.
