Overpricing
Why the hell am I going to pay around five bucks for a skin in a video game? Just curious.

Because you can't live without it? ^^ It's a weirdly phrased question though, seems like you have no choice lol

Not really the point of the matter here, dude. That said, it goes to help the creators as well as a fantastic free-to-play game that has been hailed as a model of what other developers should strive to emulate. Five bucks is a pittance.

Don't buy it if you don't want to, no one is saying you have to spend your money on it. But, I'm poor as hell and I've already picked up two of Hitsu's skins for frames I love and I'll probably get more.

Thank you so much for buying my skins @the amber trap ! :)
i joke about everything but if the question is legit the answer is simple: Making high quality content like these skin costs a lot for an artist, it takes me 1 or 2 months of 9am to 12pm of work every day to finish a skin like this and we all have to pay our bills somehow! You can make the argument that you'd like to pay less for it and i totally understand it cause i've been young and totally broke for most of my life lol, i feel you very much! Unfortunally paying less it will also mean i couldn't affor to work on this content. You could pay less but it won't be for a content made from professional artists like myself (there are many working on Warframe content right now) because we would be working on something else that will allow us to pay our bills ^^
So in short, you don't have to buy any cosmetic content, the money it's yours and you have to carefully choose how to spend it of course! But if the costs of it was much lower the content wouldn't have the same quality cause it will al be content made from amateurs for fun or in their spare time.
I understand your point of view though and i'm hopeful you'll also understand mine (as a content creator) @RufousSoup :)

I still don't understand why I'd want to buy a cosmetic over $3 in a video game. Hell. Half the helmets in the game you can just craft. Thats why I tend to stay away from Tennogen stuff. I can understand why people would want to buy syndanas, because they give certain buffs and such. If somebody sees somebody with a plethora of cosmetics, they're going to say, "Jesus, that must have costed a few dolans." Like me and my friend usually say about the usual warframe players. Maybe if they lowered the prices I would buy a few of them, if they looked visually appealing (Neon, VFX, SFX). ^^

Warframe is a damn good game, but I don't think other developers should try to emulate it. Warframe is one of those "One of a kind" types of games that can't be replicated, like take Morrowind as an example. It had that classical game 'flair', but ESO's Morrowind dlc didn't feel like Morrowind, it felt like a massive amusement park full of players new to the series. Even if they had just an island and a few missions, it wouldn't feel right at all. Thats why we should have one solitary game at the top of the pedestal.

First off, Since when did syandanas give buffs.
Second, They need to pay the creators of the skins somehow

Whenever they added these "Arcane" things. I don't really know about them, but apparently they buff your syandanas and helmets. And I would rather pay Platinum for the cosmetics instead of actual money. So I can use my platinum I received from trading on a new skin. ^^

I wasn't saying that the entire game should be emulated, but that the way DE is handling their free-to-play model should be more of what we expect from games developers and publishers.
Their model is much more transparent and consumer-friendly, and doesn't feel like they're squeezing us for all we've got. But yeah, we definitely don't need another Warframe because we've already got it.

And it's fine that *your* cutoff price for cosmetics is $3, but neither I nor most of the player base see $5 as unreasonable. The price is a pittance, and more importantly It's what the market will support. I've spent more than that on one beer that I didn't even wind up liking that much. I'd rather spend the money on something well-crafted that I'll see daily and help my magic robot space ninja stand out a bit. Regardless, it's immaterial to the discussion of this particular skin, unless you chose to post about it here because you finally saw a Tennogen skin that you want.

I'm going to dedicate my first Tennogen purchase to you, cheapskate.
Hitsu San  [developer] 28 Feb, 2018 @ 12:51am
Hahaha you guys! (lol Vaz)

@RufousSoup tennogen and other cosmetic items are only cosmetic, none of them comes with buffs of any sort BUT you can if you want attach a buff to them (it's your choice though) let's say if you have a particular syandana or a helmet that you really like to use... so we are just talking about something Visual that has no effect on the game whatsoever.
More than that though, it's totally ok if you don't want to spend more than 3$ or only ingame currency (plat) to buy some cosmetic items, in fact there's plenty of options for you and you're not cut off by the developers cause you can't afford to spend a lot by any means. This tennogen items though are very unique, they're not made by the developers (they select them though) and in fact most of them have a very particular style given to them by the original artists who's making them and the price is calculated in order to have a sustainable economy for the artists.

It seems like you were a bit confused on the argument, i hope it's more clear now :) You only have to buy them if you really like them, you can afford them and you want to support the artist who's working super hard to make these items as beautiful as they can!

There's no reason at all to get any of them if you don't agree with any of the motivations before mentioned :)

Have fun playing Warframe!

I think some of the tennogen stuff looks way better than what DE makes and the guys who make tennogen are severy limited in imagination than DE's artists are. Though some skins really out do themselfs and make a frame look really different like this loki skin or harrow graxx.
Hitsu San  [developer] 28 Feb, 2018 @ 4:26am
We are technically limited, definitely not in imagination XD i know what you meant though and thank you so much!
