[WOTC] Less Overwatch Lock Ups!
"Waiting for visualizer" hangs caused by unresolved reaction sequences; how to solve?
The X2 game engine seems to have a lot of trouble (i.e., I'm sorry, Bladestorm, I can't let you do that.) resolving reactionary sequences when two units have "infinite" reaction abilities.

For example, I'm using an enemy enhancement mod that adds "Prime" enemies, which get a free action every time you take an action against them, and they run past one of my guys with close combat perks. The close combat guy goes to take a reaction shot at the Prime unit... which would get a free action from being attacked... which would trigger another close combat attack... which would trigger another free action... annnnnnd I end up waiting on the visualizer indefinitely during the reaction sequence, forcing me to reload my last save and re-do the entirety of my previous turn; the "Clear Hangs" button doesn't show up during reaction sequences. Now, I've never let the thing just run to see if it eventually resolves the sequence, so maybe it will work itself out, but either way, it's a really big downer when this happens during my missions.

I'm running quite a few mods that change perks for enemies and XCOM, so reactionary abilities are all over the place in my games, and the above situation happens to me VERY frequently. I often have to reload my auto save and re-do my last turn completely just to keep the offending XCOM unit from getting into a situation where I know it's going to happen again.

To note, shorter (i.e. finite) reaction chains seem to resolve just fine. For example, I have someone with a close combat perk move in and attack some ADVENT goon who has a pistol that allows him to return fire when he gets attacked. My guy hits him, he gets his "return fire" attack with his pistol, and then my guy reacts to the return fire by attacking the guy with a close combat ability.

It seems to be only the situations where two opposing units have infinite reaction ability that the game engine freaks out and just goes "NOPE, waiting for visualizer". Does anyone have any ideas on how to resolve this issue, or at least work around it? Other than taking away all the cool abilities from XCOM and enemy units, that is!
