Pull requests are appreciated :).
Suggestions and bug reports are more than welcome. Upcoming period I have plenty of time to make some improvements.
This is amazing news!
I'll see what I can do to help out when I have time but obviously I want to jump on this right away .
Here's a few things top of mind:
- The default position: Right now it seems the like initial position of the camera is hardcoded sand no data is stored in-between sessions. It's a real pain on large maps when spawning nowhere near the actual park. If there's no easy way to connect saved camera data with each save/scenaio-file a better default would perhaps be to get the position of the entrance or mapsize/2.
- Jump to-function: The mod is currently not working properly with the games own jump to-functionality, with very few exceptions it just snaps back again. But What I really would like is being able to snapshot any position/camera setting and bind these to hotkeys. This would really open up for so many cool things (like timelapses!).
- If starting small, simply a single instance of "Save" > "Load" would be a useful upgrade.
Hopefully others can chime in on this and I'll spare you any lazy bug reports for now.
To comment on your points.
- Not sure what camera height would do but I'll take your word for it. I had only played the first map when I had the game.
- The option to change FOV would be interesting but make sure it's an option with a slider or so as I honestly cannot stand the FOV of the default/original game as everything feels too close and as if I do not have enough space.
- Default position. Oh yes, please fix that. It always starts at a corner or edge of a map.
- Jump to function, same issue here. In a few situations it works but when you click on the camera icon of a building, it goes there "slowly" and when it reaches that location of the building, it goes back to where the camera was and doesn't remain over that building.
I suggest fixing the bugs before adding new features though. I want to be able to only use this camera and no longer the default one. I think I'll buy this game again if these are fixed so this is great!
I'd also look at removing the zoom and rotate shortcuts or at least offer them as settings in the Controls setting page. I don't want to use z and other keys for this camera since I use my mouse and scroll wheel instead. I want to rebind those to other functions.
I also fixed a bug that messed up terraforming, the camera is now at a fixed height when editing terrain. I will probably add a shortcut to toggle between fixed height and terrain height.
Regarding the shortcuts/keybindings, those are now bindable the same way as Parkitect controls are ("Settings > Controls"). The default camera bindings are now used for the movement, rotation and zoom. For the tilting I added extra key bindings in the settings.
Also a FOV slider is a great idea, and quit easy to implement. I will try to save the camera position for save games. I will have take a look into the jump to-function.
Did you find the cause for the Jump to function?
Here's a recap: In a few situations it works but when you click on the camera icon of a building, it goes there "slowly" and when it reaches that location of the building, it goes back to where the camera was and doesn't remain over that building.
We're forced to switch to the original camera to do that, but when it does move to the building properly, switching to your mod makes the camera return to where your mod was prior to clicking the button since both cameras have their own saved positions.
