Menu UI Fixes and Improvements

Updates
I have decided to make this thread on updates because I will be steadily adding things to this mod that I feel will improve user experience. Having received some feedback from my initial version of this addon, I learned about some other issues that I may be able to fix or improve. Here is the running list of updates and features of this addon:

  • Server Browser added to main menu
  • Added Reformatted Addon Browser (by Urik)
  • Added Single-player option to Mutations, Realism, and Survival (by Rayman1103)
  • Added Private Game option to lobby (by Rayman1103)
  • Added game lobby changer (by Rayman1103)
  • Removed Blog Post from main menu
  • Added rebuildaudiocache and reloadfont under Extras (by Urik)
  • Added Splitscreen support (by Urik)
  • Added in-game menu options (by Urik)
  • Added Developer Console under Extras
  • Added Download Campaign HUD Fix by George
  • Added Scripted Mode HUD Fix by George
  • Added Alternate Campaign List by me


This thread is for comments regarding the functionality of various updates and newer mod builds. I may also post in here about why something may or may not work or may ask for feedback or help from people more knowledgeable about this game than myself.

Please do not use this thread for suggestions, save that for the Suggestions thread.

I attempted to add a keybind option for the Developer Console in the keybind.lst, but it only half works. It does indeed register it as changing the dev console button, because it automatically detects the button as `. It also fails to load the dev console when pressing ` after rebinding it to a different button. However, the only button that actually works to bring it up is ` so even if you rebind it to a different button in the menu, that button won't bring the console up. If anybody knows a fix for this, please let me know.

If you update this mod, I would be glad if you could a button in the puase menu to open the console, (if that's possible) Because of the german keyboard layout I can't open it with a button, I tried everything, (start options, binds etc. but nothing works.)
A simple button in the pause menu would fix this c:

Hey WastL, thanks for the suggestion. I tried to add such a button but when I did, nothing showed up at all in the in-game menu. Unfortunately I won't be able to add it unless someone more capable than I can figure out how to get it to show up.

I've updated this add-on to include a better looking campaign list, which also affects the menu screens of the versus, realism, versus realism, survival, and scavenge menus. It adds Here's a screenshot:

The only thing that worries me a little about this is that it makes this mod exclusive to people who use 16:9 or 16:10 resolutions, as it doesn't have the desired effect on 4:3 monitors. However, I'm of the mindset that 4:3 monitors have been on the way out ever since the point that this game was itself released. It's my estimation that more people will find this addition useful than as a detriment. However, if you want to use this add-on without the new campaign browser, you can revert back by deleting the two relevant files. They are named "foundgamelistitempublic.res" and "foundpublicgames.res" and can be found in the resource/ui/l4d360ui folder. You'll obviously need something like GCFScape to open the .vpk itself.
