Future of Origins Civics - Life is Out There
Hello All and welcome to the first Future of Origins Civics discussion. IRL’s been keeping me busy, so unfortunately I haven’t been able to bring out new content. But as it looks like I may be able to organize my time better I hope to bring these ideas to life and the discuss the projects I am planning to tackle. As such, here are the ideas for the next few major updates. These projects will be a major change for Origins Civics, so I am planning after 2.2 drops for a release of these changes.

Life is out there Update:
A major overhaul of the mod’s code focus on bringing the galaxy to life, with more stories, new empire types, and events. Life is out there will focus on the Alien Message civic and may include the following:

  • Alien Message Civic: A voice in the void reached out to us, calling us to answer. By uniting our society together, we've built ships to sail the heavens to find our friends. I plan to update the signal source event chain to be longer with different possible outcomes (primitive early space, primitive radio, normal empire, fallen empire, extinct empire, primitive tomb world), post-source origin discovery events, and AI scripting for AI Alien Message empires.
  • Voidborne Civic: For generators we've lived in the void, ever tweaking the ancient machinary of our home to keep us alive. With the changes upcoming in 2.2, Voidborne will need an overhaul. I’m planning to have the civic be more focused on small empire development, with probably a higher focus into trade, energy, and science development vs military ambitions. I will also look into developing AI scripting for AI Voidborne empires.
  • New Invaded Civic: They came from outer space and nearly drove us to extinction. Now that they have left, we've used their advance technology to catapult our civilization to the stars and bring them the hell they've given our home. The xenophobic parallel to Alien Message, I plan to have this civic focus on seeking out the Xeno invaders who nearly destroyed your world and face them with various consequences for your empire. I want to have a similar number of event outcomes as
  • Galactic Narrative: Fallen Empires reigned the galaxy before you, but little is known to why they retreated. I plan to add Fallen Colony empires, remanants of ancient backwater colonies that are reconnecting to the galactic stage, new systems such as the Graveyard, debries ridden battlegrounds containing ancient tech that happened just prior to the collapse of galactic order, and a new event based narrative focused on the "Grand Empire", one possible recenty history of the galaxy with future narrative ideas such the "Third League" to come.

Let me know what you think. I hope as I get more time I'll post some updates here about my progress / next updates.

I'm sorry you never got more acknowledgement for all this. This was one of my top favorite mods and you had a lot of fantastic ideas. I really love all the ideas here, especially the Galactic Narrative. I played almost every game with the Forgotten Race Civic too. If I knew how to mod I'd pick this up for you. Thanks for all the work. <3

i can say this with everyone else we are waiting on our hands for the update if you need help check Armco discord because they're alot of people who does modding on it

Thank you for letting us know you're still working on the mod. I just wish there was a "hotfix" to make it 2.3 compatible... Like, I'm excited for the new content, but while I wait I would love to play the older content. For some computer magic reason, this mod causes the new 2.3 update to hang at 90% (which I'm sure you know...). Is there any chance of having the pre 2.3 update content be made playable for the 2.3 update? This is one of my favourite mods, and I just got back from a long trip and went to play and BOOM. Stalled out. I'm really bummed because I was getting so close to winning my first game.

In case my ramblings took too long to read:
1. Good to see you alive and well.
2. Yay new content.
3. Any chance at a hotfix to patch compatibility with the new Stellaris 2.3 update?
3.a. I just want to play with old content and finish my save...
4. This mod is one of my favourites.

Try reverting to 2.2 to finish the old save.
