Its more than just that. There are some good tennogen skins for her, so it's doable. I think its more a conflict of theme. To me, grineer are all about rounded and tubular designs with heavy industrial influence while Zephyr is a much sharper and angular design. The Grineer are heavy, Zephyr is not.
While Zephyr is my favorite and I've been a fan of the Graxx series up until now, I just can't get into this particular Graxx version.
What's worse is that I can't clearly see where to go from here that would change that opinion. I have a hunch there could be a different arrangment of metal, cloth and leather materials that would speak to me better. Perhaps there could be more steam venting or mini-jet decorations to support her theme. But I don't have the artistic chops to give you any better critique.
It's always been about taking the shapes of X frame and themeing it in a mix of grineer/tenno. Sometimes it leans more heavily towards one of them.
With wobbly/melted candle looking frames like zephyr/chroma keeping it true to the bulbous grineer style becomes impossible, so you play the cards you're dealt.
Detail/texture/overall aestethic they are all similar, shape wise not so much.
Compare say, mag with atlas and they tell two very different stories.
I'm honestly not bothered by how close she is to 'true grineer'. As for the body shape, well that can be worked with, the Hagoromo set feels much softer than this one, And the Skeiron set very sharp and rigid and the colour bleed and shine is a nice feature.
I guess considering that those two hit my preferences so well, the difficult colouring and heavy pitting on the texture may be what's throwing me off.
I'm quite fond of the Nova and Frost Graxx and I use the disconnect Syndana on Valkyr pretty much to the exclusion of any other choice. I'm a fan of the gritty look on other skins like the Atlas, Vauban for instance but this case might just come down me not liking it on Zephyr.
I guess we'll see if Zephyr prime is next like I'd hoped before the lazy rework.
