Can multiple oil-wells feed off one uhhhhhh field?

My current map has basically one *huge* oil field (I originally typed "puddle-of-oil" in the title because I couldn't remember what they're called - thought you might enjoy that :P).

Can I place multiple wells in a single field? Are there downsides to doing so?

yes you can tap as many wells as you want into 1 field in any location, it will just drain the field faster, you may get earth tremors if you drill too many holes, also oil fields are essentially giant free storage tanks so only pump as much oil to the surface as you need
