Eisen 2.0 - Long sword skin

Great separate parts, but...
The handle is beautiful and the blade too, but i find they don't go well together.

i agree, the top half looks like a japanese sword with only one sharpened side, but on the guard it looks like a more european style, with the bit of blade just above it sharpened on both sides. It just doesn't fit together.

I disagree. Sabers (sabres if you prefer) were a european thing, and could very well be both single-edged and curved. Used by both infantry and cavalry, apparently, as a single-edged sword was cheaper to make than a double-edged one. Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sabre

Slightly curved and sharpened on one side doesn't mean Japanese origin. If you were to go on google and look up the "Kriegsmesser" you'll see an example of an European weapon with one side sharpened.

If the desciption didn't mention ronin I would've agreed that it fits more as a saber/Kreigsmesser.
But I can fault the author for description only. It's a nice sword and fits the gracefulness of one, and with the upcoming nodachi fits right well into the game.

The reference to "Ronin" seems to refer to an Excalibur skin by the same creator, which also seems to marry eastern and western stylings somewhat. This all seems rather in keeping with the overall style of the Tenno, whose weapons and equipment typically have influences from all sorts of traditions -japanese, chinese, indian, european, american, and so on and so forth. Sometimes separate, sometimes combined... A sort of "fusion" of european and asian weapon design, then, seems like a fairly natural development for such an eclectic faction. At least to me.^^

I know it's well made and it's nice, but when i see the whole thing, i find this a bit meh... Like a sword that had its blade bended. It's hard to say exactly what's so wrong with it but it disturbs me.

The blade is just a little bit curved, creating an optical illusion that makes it difficult to tell if it is straight or not... confusing the foe! ...At least, that's what we'll tell Darvo. <.<

I think this would look better if the blade was straight.

It looks 'bent' instead of curved after looking a bit longer. That's what I find personally unappealing about it. Athough, the concept is pretty cool.

Doesn't really go well together, imo. a round guard, or a knuckle guard would work better with the curved blade. Most guards I've seen like that are on straight swords, so this just looks off. It's real clean, and it's got style, but I'd say choose one or the other.

i find it makes it look like its a lot heavier than the skana is meant to be but idk just my opinion
Zenshua 15 Mar, 2018 @ 11:05am
Not a fan of the Skana tag, but supposedly the "longsword" skin can be applied to other "longswords", so I'm hoping it was just a tag error.

I'm also on-edge about the guard on this sword... everything looks nice and I'd see myself using this over the Frysta skin, but I feel it may look more streamline and natural without it. Maybe it's because of the upward-curved blade and diagonal cuts near the hilt... Perhaps aligning the guard to be angled with the blade would naturalize it better, but that's just me.

the thing that is getting you all isnt the curve i believe its the size of the hand guard thats not doing the trick

great but i dont like the hole at the base of the blade, makes it look very flimsy and frail.
