How to play this locally with friends?

Is there any way to play this with friends locally? Maybe spawn enemies/trees randomly?

Yeah, just like any other gamemode. You start a new game server with a supported map and you are off to the races.

Characters do automatically, map is manual, but it doesn't work perfectly last time I played it.
