Troubleshooting
Here are some tips if you experience any issues using this mod

General Solutions
  • Make sure your mod is activated in the launcher and displayed when starting.
  • Make sure your game is up to date (no beta option in steam)
  • Check for mod conflicts
    – Give this mod higher priority than other mods that affect the startpos file
    – Disable other/all mods and check if the issue still occurs
  • Reload your mods: Delete all mods, start Rome II and close it, activate the mods to download them again
  • Delete the folder "launcher" in the Appdata path of Rome II
  • Verify your game files in Steam
  • Are you using Mac? Mods might not work on your platform.
  • Reinstall your game
  • If the issue persist, please write a comment explaining what you have done and what does not work (campaign, custom battle…) and that you followed this thread. Do not write "Not working" because I don not want to answer the same questions every day.

My game does not start while this mod is active.
  • Old game version: Make sure you are running the current game version and not an older patch via Steam beta options.
  • Mod conflict: Disable all other mods and run the game. If it works, activate your other mods step by step to find the conflicting one.
  • If this does not work try the general solutions (top of this thread)

Unlocking factions for Grand Campaign does not work
  • Most likely there is another mod conflicting with the unlocked. Deactivate all other mods and activate them step by step and check if it works. Do not use any mods that change turns per year or alter the startpos file of the Grand Campaign.
  • Reload the mod: Delete this mod, start Rome II launcher and quit it instantly, then activate the mod again
  • If this does not work, try the general solutions (top of this thread)

Unlocking factions for custom battles does not work
  • Reload the mod: Delete this mod, start Rome II launcher and quit it instantly, then activate the mod again
  • Deactivate all other mods and activate them step by step to check if it works without them.
  • If this does not work try, the general solutions (top of this thread)

I am missing a certain faction in Campaign or custom battle list
  • Check if this faction is unlocked by a certain DLC. If yes, you must own it to play as that faction. Modders cannot unlock DLC factions.
  • Make sure to check all cultures/groups in the campaign menu or read the battle faction list closely ;)
  • Find a mod conflict: Deactivate all other mods and activate them step by step to check if it works without them. If another mod changes the category of this faction try to disabling it first.
  • If this does not work, try the general solutions (top of this thread)

I have an issue with missing or wrong textures in battle
  • Too many mods: There is a limit of mods (35 I think but I am not sure) your game can support. You have to delete one or more and check if it works.
  • Check if it appears for modded units only: Maybe there are missing textures/definitions in this mod so try to contact the modder.
  • If this does not work, try the general solutions (top of this thread)

Conflict with new launcher
  • Before the last patch, some users had conflicts with the new launcher. It is still possible to switch back to the old launcher in steam
  • Post by Texan214:
"Go to your library, right click on Rome 2, click properties, click beta tab, click drop down menu, click on launcher_release_candidate- for the old launcher, apply. Launch the game and in the old launcher make sure the unlocker and any other mods are enabled."

is this mode savegame compatible ? i started with a grand campaign savegame ,and so far ,its doesnt works, still 1 turn/year

This is the main mod that does not change turns per year. However, turns per year cannot be changed during a running campaign.

The Nordos turns per year mods do not work for me, I'm using the main unlocker, have tried the general solutions and I'm not using any mods that change the turns already, I've also repeatedly tried starting new games to see if it would work. To test it I used the faction Parthia, which can be played in the vanilla game, the main unlocker works fine with no other issues. It remains at 1 turn per year.

Are you using the new mod launcher? Make sure,
1. you have subscribe to the tpy add-on.
2. the add-on is activated
3. the add-on has a higher priority

Yes I am using the new launcher, I'm currently using the 12 turns per year addon, which is subscribed to, activated, and I have brought it to the top of the priority list, as well as just before the Unlocker in another test.

PS. It's very possible that I have another mod that is conflicting in some way, I will disable the rest and only enable the TPY addon and the Unlocker to see if it works then.

PPS. Unfortunately even that didn't work, however there is something else I've discovered. When you press Play the launcher warns you about the mods you have enabled, and Apparently there is a "12 Turns Per Year" mod that is still being detected by the launcher. I've been searching for this phantom tpy mod (which I was using long before), and have found nothing. The mod is not subscribed to, it is not in the launcher, and I cannot find it's file in the Rome II Data folder.

Not only is this phantom mod likely preventing your addon from functioning, but it also doesn't even extend the tpy on its own. I'm going to attempt an uninstall and reinstall of the game, wipe all the mods again, and test the Unlocker and Addon on their own to see if that fixes it.

Did you check the workshop directory? New mods aren't stored in the data folder.

Indeed, there was no trace of it anywhere.

After a lot of trial and error I've discovered that if I enable a tpy mod FIRST and then start a new game, I can exit out and enable all the other mods without a hitch and the tpy is still applied. An odd way to solve the problem, but for now it remains solved. Thanks for the Feedback

Family tree doesnt show up, for instance this time I was playing as Persia
Nor Dogroth  [developer] 19 Aug, 2019 @ 9:30am
This is well known, many users have posted that issue. It needs a complete rework of the startpos file to enable family trees for unlocked factions. The startpos has been created before the new family tree was implemented, now it would take a huge amount of time to recreate the whole content.
SlimeyKiwi 20 Aug, 2019 @ 2:42am
Will it be a big issue in gameplay? Like succession and stuff? And kids and all that still work relativly the same?
Nor Dogroth  [developer] 20 Aug, 2019 @ 6:06am
Unfortunally, at the moment the Rome II Assembly Kit creates a startpos that crashes the game even when I do not change anything. This means, it is not possible to make any new changes to the Grand Campaign. So we have to accept that playing an unlocked faction means we have no family tree and no civil war or secession.

I am working on implementing the family tree to Imperator Augusts which is not that difficult I thought, although I need to manually add the victory conditions for all 65 factions again. I am also working on implementing civil war factions for those 65, but right now the developer tool does not put those civil war factions into the start pos file. I'm not sure why, maybe it is hardcoded to block new civil war factions. So I will need some time to figure out what is possible and then you get an update at least for the IA unlocker with family tree, that's all we can get I think.
Hello Gentlemen, I need helps I know about modding a bit and used mods now and them am running radiuos mods the all for in order and texture mod for water I run this mod everything works in custom but no Grand C in the other so I removed everything radiuos and it works in custom like before but now in Grand C I belive it has to do with year changes or weather during the years not sure love your mod but rome 2 with Rad all parts plus I own all dlcs its amazing and if I remove my main mods iits basicially just vinnilia with more facctions and dlcs also

Hello Nor Dogroth. I met a problem when I played with your all faction unlocker mod. The army traditions were missing when I played as Garamantia and Nasamones. I had only this mod so it couldn't be caused by the conflict between mods. My game version is the latest one. Could you see to this bug?
