Shield Belt investigation
Garr Incorporated 2 minutes ago
Black horse and white horse were unable to equip one.
... I feel like it's better to PM this. I don't want to waste space here.

Garr Incorporated 5 minutes ago
Tested it with chinchilla and black and white foals and mares.
Chinchilla, foals and white mare was able to wear a shield belt. Black mare was unable to wear one.

Garr Incorporated 13 minutes ago
Even tester gigantopithecus went for it. Now I am utterly confused...

Dylan [author] 14 minutes ago
@Garr Incorporated - Very strange, I will test it with 'Aparel Organizer'

Garr Incorporated 15 minutes ago
No, again. Tester boar without armour didn't go for the shield.
And tester boomalope immediately went for the shield.

Garr Incorporated 36 minutes ago
It might be Aparel Organizer...
But then again, a muffalo DID try and equip the shield belt with the same settings...
Wait. I try to equip both armour and the shield. Maybe that's what's wrong...

@Garr Incorporated - Do you have mods that influence the outfits or similar things? Maybe I can find something out if I use them too

Garr Incorporated 1 hour ago
Nudist and back didn't work, and moving the mod higher in the list fixed nothing.
I'll try them lower in the list.

Alright. I'll try shamaning some weirdness.

Good.

Ok, I have tested it now with '[B18] Apparel Organizer [v2.0]' and also to be sure with 'Outfitter' , 'Appearance clothes', 'Infused' & 'Outfitter A18 - Infused' and I can't really reproduce it, the wild boar and a selection of mod-horses did put on the shield belt and their armor.

Would you be able to start a new game and test it in there - you can enable developer mode in the game-options and then you can spawn the animals:

Pause the game, click the 'first ring with the play-button'(Debug menu actions)
then 'Tool: Spawn pawn' on the right (You can always search for the things on the top left),

next same 'Debug menu' but this time 'Tool: Tanme animal'(Third column) click all of the animals(there should be a tame success message for each one),

next same 'Debug menu' again: 'Tool: Try place direct thing...' > 'Shield belt', 'Wild Boar Armor', 'Horse Armor', 'Shield Belt' etc. just spawn them inside a storage-zone or create one over them spawning them

(check the outfit if they are allowed to use them, you shouldn't need to change anything normally)

unpause and see if they equip them.

Thanks for explaining the tools (even though I know how to do the stuff).
Yeah, I'll try that in about an hour.

Oh ok, yeah I suspected that you might know ^^ but at least I now have it written here to copy it if I ever need to.

If that doesn't work, there must be another mod there that causes this behavoir.

Currently I have 'Animal Gear (Base)' right after HugsLib in the load-order (but I don't know if it's really that important)

Huh. In a new world boars and horses are behaving as required (after nudist-unnudist).
Garr Incorporated 20 May, 2018 @ 8:51am
It must be something with the save. And I doubt we can do anything with that...

I think the issue is affecting the "old" animals: the ones who were living before the update. After the time I had a population rotation, and my newer mature boars (age of about a quadrum and some) were able to equip a shield belt. The older ones are unable to, for one reason or another.

mh, I think so too .. Its good to hear that there is no problem in general, but I don't save anything in particular that I could change to fix the 'old' animals as far as I know, I will have a look, maybe I can trigger some things that 'clear' the state for old animals/pawns when you load a game, who knows, but thanks so far for the great feedback on this

You're welcome.
All in all, it's a minor hiccup. I can create a new Battle Boar Five. After all, the bionic jaws and eyes are extractable.
