Buut since the TF2 world is so powerful due to australium its pretty much Futuristic. I mean, really. Was there a Auto-fire Laser Pistol, Flaming Hats, a shotgun that reloads by pulling the lever, and Radiated soda in 1968? Somehow, I doubt it.

Actually, I think by the release of MVM, TF2 took place in 1972. Who knows when it is now.
