perhaps if things go too bad for the americanists, as in all 5 of their holy sites falling, a president-marshal can coup the presidency, and begin an event chain related to his brutal reconquest of the capital and other holy-sites, and the eventual power struggle if/when he refuses to restore the presidency?

Unlikely to happen. The Devs announced that the next patch is going to be the last content patch and they'll be moving on to CK3.
