Issue With Bonemerge/Hitbox

So, items that are effects when painted with this tool are completely hitbox obstructed. In other words, When I paint an effect, and I go to bonemerge it to a ragdoll, the bonemerge tool can't find the effect's hitbox and neither can I. Is there a possible fix to this?
