When I try to disguise as a prop, I just pick it up.
"The props (initially with Dr. Kleiner's skin) need to choose a prop in the current map and press 'E' to disguise as it."
When I press E, it picks it up.

The last update was back in 2015 and I have the problem aswell. It must just be the addon itself it out-of-date and I have no idea if the owner will even fix it.

It works 50% properly for me if i disable all the addons except prop hunt and some maps...I say 50% because when i become a prop i also pick it up at the same time but i press E again and i drop it, that should not happen though...

Me and most of the people, that have this problem, have the 'Playable Piano' addon and for some reason that addon bugs the Prop Hunt mode.
So, try to only remove that addon, if you have it installed, and then try playing it again.
