For those who haven't figured it out:
  1. Go to Clip Editor Timeline, scroll down to the Overlay section.
  2. Right click the Effects bar, click "Add Clip to Track", choose "Material Overlay Effect".
  3. Right click the new overlay clip and click "Show in Element Viewer".
  4. In the Element Viewer, click the "..." next to the empty "material" field, this opens a material menu.
  5. Copy/type this text in filter box to find the materials: Volumetric Fix
  6. Pick appropriate resolution of .vmt for your project and click "Open"
Remember to extend the duration of this new overlay clip to cover all your shots/animation.
Especially if using more overlay clips, rename the clip into something like "banding fix" or "fix" by right clicking it and going to Edit Clip > Set Clip Name.
