Randomly generated maps

I never was sure if the maps in vanilla were procedurally generated or not. Are the ones in this mod random? for example i keep dying on the steppes at the entrance and entered a few times and saw the same 3 or 4 layouts over and over again. thanks!

in vanilla AND this mode they are random, its just that a bunch of parts are fixed so that quests dont require too much wandering around
