Hospital Expansion mod?
There's something I've always wanted but never seen done. Proper hospitals.

The hospitals in Rimworld are an injustice to real world hospitals. They simply are not hospitals in any sense of the word. Why? Because hospitals are big, complex, made up of many different buildings containing many different departments with many different teams specialising in many different areas. Rimworld hospitals, on the other hand, are an all-purpose single-room "ward" where everyone is treated equally irrespective of their conditions. I want a mod to change this.

It would need to do a few things:
  • Have pawns prioritise specific medical beds over others depending on their most immediately threatening condition. Either by using areas, room designations, bed designations or something else. There should be four major departments, roughly corresponding to the four categories pharmacist already has:
    • Minor Injuries Unit (MIU) - Minor conditions like injuries totalling to <100% bleed rate (but perhaps >25%), cracked bones, minor blood loss and non-fatal diseases, excluding bruises.
    • Accident and Emergency (A&E) - Major conditions like large cuts, Moderate+ Blood loss, missing limbs, potentially-fatal diseases, or heart attacks.
    • Intensive Care Unit (ICU) - Life-Threatening conditions such as near-fatal diseases and long-term debilitating diseases (like the rapid ageing in Sometimes Raids Go Wrong).
    • Surgical Treatment Unit (STU) - All surgery operations, transplants, and limb replacements, but excluding drug administrations. This should include a dedicated Operating Theatre which is where the actual surgeries take place.
    And two subcategories of wards:
    • Inpatients ward - Where patients who need to stay in the hospital long-term (>24hrs) to recover are taken after urgent treatment.
    • Outpatients ward - Where patients who don't need to stay in the hospital long (<24hrs) are taken after treatment. These patients are quickly discharged, or allowed to leave the hospital.
  • Have doctors (and Nurses with an applicable mod or added by this mod) be able to move patients between departments when appropriate. For instance, once a patient in the MIU is tended and no longer bleeding, and has not gotten an infection after a reasonable amount of time, they are moved to the outpatients clinic to be discharged.
  • Have doctors prioritise patients in more urgent wards. ICU is more important than A&E which is more important than MIU. Have surgeons be a separate work type, and have their priorities place the STU on top, then helping with the other three when available.
  • Have pawns performing the "Bed Rest" work type rest in their own personal bed instead of going to the hospital. Extremely minor injuries that don't need attention like a small amount of bruises or a very low bleed rate are categorised under bed rest. Everything else is under patient.
  • Have pawns be able to rest or wait on chairs in appropriate situations, like for waiting rooms or outpatient wards.

That's it! No added buildings, operations, medicines, drugs, prosthetics or illnesses. Just behaviour tweaks and room/bed designations. There could also be a department for animal treatment such as a Veterinary Unit, or animals can be treated in any location with a designation on animal beds to make them medical (some mods already do this).
