I have a total of three music mods subscribed. This one, the Endless Space 2 soundtrack, and the Stellaris Music Expansion Pack. Only the Stellaris Music Expansion Pack actually plays currently. I've checked for incompatibility by disabling the SMEP, but to no avail. I've also tried unsubbing/resubbing also with no effect.
I also subscribe to the Stellaris Sound Project mod which modifies Stellaris' sound effects. I tried disabling that as well, but again, this did not fix my problem. No other mod I have should be making changes to sound or music, though admittedly I haven't tried disabling everything except for this just yet.
Might you have some idea what's wrong?
I thought that SMEP might have some scripts running that change the selection of of music tracks causing them to not play but as they are completely absent from the music player I'm guessing this isn't the case. The only thing that makes any sense to me is a problem with SMEP, as although I haven't updated this for a long time music mods are very lightweight and aren't affected by game updates.
I can only suggest a complete clean reinstall of the game (with no mods). Maybe then you could try installing other music mods before SMEP and see if that changes anything. No guarantees unfortunately.
You could also try downloading the Endless Space OST and Warframe OST onto your computer and making your own custom mod (that you don't even have to upload to steam). Music modding is really simple even if you have no experience coding. The Stellaris modding wiki explains it really well and even gives you some templates to use to make the process easier. This should hopefully bypass any issues that steam is causing.
I hope this is helpful in one way or another and you manage to fix your technical issues.
I've since fixed my issue with the Endless Space OST by simply subscribing to another mod offering the same content, but there's no way to know how permanent that might be. Regardless it does indeed seem like the fault is on either Stellaris or Steam. Ultimately I will probably have to create my own music mods in order to be certain this doesn't happen again.
Thank you for your prompt and educational response. :)
Thanks for your help!
