FI2 Amber is not on the Steam Workshop, because up until roughly 2 weeks before Osiris launched, it was impossible to play multiplayer with Workshop mods. If you tried to open the workshop tab when playing a mod downloaded from the Workshop, the game would immediately crash.
Since Osiris launched shortly after this was fixed, and we consider it to be the successor of Amber, we did not upload Amber to the Workshop at the time.
The reason it's still not on the Workshop is because we don't want people to confuse the two versions. Amber is still available for download on ModDB, where we can clearly show that Osiris is a newer version, and better supported, but we can't make that distinction on the Workshop. Since the Warband multiplayer community is already fairly small, we want to keep the playerbase focused on the version that we consider to be better, and that we'll continue to support, namely Osiris.
Ok. That's nice to know.
Thanks for explaining it to me.
And while we're on the topic of Amber.
What other kinds of factions were there in the mod?
I only ask because I've heard people mention a few of them before.
The Anglo-Zulu War
The Armies of Isengard
The Armies of Mordor
The Assassin Guild
The Barbarian Tribes
The Byzantine Empire
The Calradian Realms
The Chinese Dynasties
The Cowboys
The Crusader States
The Dwarven Kingdoms
The Elven Kingdoms
The Empire
The Greek City States
The Hammerites
The Hedge Knights
The Highlanders
The Imperial Legion
The Imperium of Man
The Kingdom of Bretonnia
The Kingdom of Gondor
The Kingdom of Rohan
The Kingdom of Rohan & the Elves
The Kingdoms of Arnor & Numenor
The Kingdoms of Westeros
The Lord of the Rings Combined
The Men of the East
The Modern Era
The Napoleonic Wars
The Roman Empire
The Sengoku Jidai
The Seven Years' War
The Sixteenth Century
The Star Wars Combined
The Vikings
The With Fire and Sword Factions
The World Wars Soldiers
The Zombies
And 27 invasion factions.
As you can see, the selection of factions was a lot broader. However, each faction had a lot less to offer in terms of content, with some factions having no more than 3 classes, each with only a handful of gear.
Dang. That's a lot.
I wish you guys would've kept updating it, maybe getting rid of the Imperium of Man.
But that sound like some awesome factions.
And hey man.
I did some thinking about it, and I wanted to say, I'm sorry.
I'm genuinely sorry I got so angry with you and all. And I'm sorry that I came off so bossily, or whatever you'd want to call it.
I just get frustrated with people when we loose to the same thing multiple times in a row. It's like the people playing don't seem to learn from their mistakes.
And it's not like I expect everyone I meet on a random game to suddenly be all like Roman legions and working together like a flawless unit, but I just thought it'd be pretty clear that working together in a co-op mode would be the obviously best way to play.
I promise to be more chill about the game and maybe even join a clan via Discord if I ever get unbanned.
I do think however believe a few of the admins were being fairly abusive.
I swear on my Steam Account that I got onto one or both of the LotR Only EU servers and was banned for no reason.
The first time was when I was near a wardrobe and about to change classes, and I suddenly started getting hit with the Ban Hammer weapon. I hadn't been in the game too long, and just out of nowhere.
The second time, I joined the game after a week or so, give or take a day or two, and I got on the LotR Only server and Thorvic had just clutched a win on Wave 34 on Helm's Deep. Everyone was congratulating him, even me.
I spawned in and headed toward the keep, and I was suddenly banned. I'm not kidding.
And I'm not trying to sucker you into unbanning me. I honestly got to thinking about all this.
Thanks man.
It's funny how silly these kinds of things seem when you look back at them.
