Things you need to know when starting this mod
Hi Guys,

I've spent a bunch of hours playing this mod and even though it has its problems that (I hope) the devs are sorting out, it's still an amazing fun mod to play.

Here is a few things I believe you need to know if you are going to jump in an play this... There are many complaints and requests on the comments and discussions hopefully you can find what you are looking for here.

!!! VERY IMPORTANT !!!

DO NOT PLAY THIS IN REALISTIC MODE, ALWAYS USE THE QUIT WITHOUT SAVING FEATURE AND SAVE REGULARLY AS CRASHES WILL HAPPEN !!!

1. Main Storyline Quests

Pay attention to the "Obsert Clerk" you meet in the beginning, this is the guy who meets you after you kill the first bandit in the start, he will tell you he is going to pentos and says you should join him, don't be rude to him, tell him you think this is your oppertunity to make something of yourself, if you do this he will give you your starting quests. If you do not however say that to him you will not get the 3 starting quests and there is no way (so far) to get them afterwards.

(These quests gives very good XP which is essential for starting this mod)

2. You're a baby in a grown up world.

This mod was designed to be difficult, and you'll find that even on the easiest settings you do no damage early on and looters and peasants kick your butt with no effort. My tip to you is this, don't battle too much too early, money is especially hard to get in this mod and troops are very expensive to recruit and maintain, companions however are cheap and there are a bunch of them who will join your party for free and stay loyal till the end of days. Recruit as many companions as you can early on and then go and explore as many "Adventure Locations" as you can, these are locations like Barrows, Inn's Ruined villages that kind of stuff, this will give you lots of XP to level up and give XP to your companions, which makes them cheap effective troops early on. (Also speak to every village elder and town guild master you can as they give you xp on meeting them the first time :)

Once you and your companions are levelled up a bit then you can start fighting raiders/outlaws/pirates & bandits for cash and better gear... But for the first few days be prepared to be captured a lot if you are not careful.

3. Earning Money Quick & Easy.

As with most mount and blade mods the kings around here will always be looking for mercenaries to fight their wars, this is great as they will pay most of your troop wages and you can raid villages and sell the goods for lots of cash. This is an excelent way to make money early on before you either start your own kingdom or join a faction, as soon as you do that you have to pay your own troops. You can also open a bank account in Braavos to save any extra cash you do not want to lose and you get a 2.5% interest on the total amount in your bank... You never know when savings will come in handy.

4.Runtime erros after long battles.

Ocasionally (Almost every time) after a long siege or a long battle the game will crash and you will get a C++ Runtime Error, I can't tell you why this happens but I can tell you how I avoid it in my game, I keep an eye on the clock, if I see my battle has been going on for about 7-8 minutes I find a spot far from the enemy, press tab and retreat from battle, Normally when this happen my party only loses 5 morale sometimes one or two guys die but its nothing serious, then I simply charge the enemy again for another round, this is so far the only way I have been able to complete all my battles/sieges without the mod crashing on me. Keep this in mind because its not fun to do a 1000vs1000 man battle over and over again ;)

Just some Tips & Tricks

1. Rush 20 Strenght ASAP - This will allow you to use any weapon or armor in the game.
2. Carver & Fenna - These 2 companions are free and very strong fighters, they will always
stay loyal and are great for getting started early on.
3. Two Handed Mace - I bought one of these early on and it changed my game completely, at
Level 14 I could 1 shot almost anyone and no one survives 2 shots with this :)
4. Save Regularly as you never know when the game will crash and give you a C++ Runtime
Error
5. Many different NPC's in different locations will have quests for you so speak to everyone :)
6. Don't eat the mushrooms xD
7. Marrying a Lady who is a vassal to a king will make you a lord which will make you a vassal
of that king. Keep this in mind when you decide to marry.
8. You can hire Dothraki warriors at dothraki camps and slaves at caravan markets.
9. The guy who sells unsullied soldiers will stay at your location indefinately even if you only
pay him once, don't pay him more than once ever.

I will update this post as more issues arise or as I make more discoveries while playing.

It's really an awesome mod and I understand the devs have a lot of work ahead of them, but so far all I can say is bloody good job devs :) You guys rock, thanks for an awesome mod.

Great feedback thanks !

I've been playing this mod for a few dozen of hours now and the lore is really great but gosh, the difficulty, i wasn't prepared for that, knights garduing castles when you try to escape prisonners, instead of middle troops on classic Mount & Bland, ;D

Also i don't know about you but i can't talk to any Bard, which is quit sad for relationship goals :/

Long time player of this mod. Great tips for those new to it. Note that I am not getting run-time errors.

I don't get any runtime errors either.

Is the two-handed mace that good? Does it knock enemies unconscious? I usually use a Great Sword.

Also, there's a surgeon called Brendan Storm in Weeping Town (the starting town). He'll join your party for free, and has 6 points in Surgery. This will help preserve your army from the very start.

In the first tavern, if you start Scribe, and therefore have 1200 gold, would you buy the archers at all to help with looters?

Maybe you can help me with my problem. Did you play the Quest "Attention to the King" already? In the second part of the Quest, where you have to visit the meele grounds, the only option I am able to choose is "leave". I really don't know, what I am supposed to do now. Did I made a mistake or is this a bug?

you need to speak with the man on meele grounds, he will tell you that it will begin shortly but he dont know exacly when. Then wait on meele grounds some time and tournament will start after few minutes.

I can't enter the area which is called meele grounds, as soon as im clicking on it, i can see the background picture, the text that says that the grounds of the red keep have been modified for the battle and the button I can click on afterwards which is called "leave". When I click it, I leave Kings Landing entirely

That's fair enough, but how do I get to any of the xp farming locations without being made prisoner? All enemy mobs are faster than starting character.

i find this mod easy compared to awoiaf, i can play this mod on hardest and once i get a decent sword and armour i'm soloing 30-100 armys, while as if i play normal on awoiaf i get rekted, range is really nerfed alot in acok and armour is stupidily buffed so much so that once u get towards the high teir armour, apart from a thrust attack, noone but 2 handed unites can do damage to u and arrows do nothing , you can run up on foot and kill a 200 + army, just spam over head while kiteing back ,watch out for 2 handed unites and the occasional thrust attack, too easy imo

and army if u like large battles this isn't the mod for u, awoiaf i can go 600 fine no lag, 300 on this mod and lag, it seems more of a quest oriented mod

Obsert the Clerk has no dialogue options for joining him after the fight in the street (opening scene). What am I doing wrong?

If you told him to bugger off you will no longer get any dialogue from him which means you will also not be able to do many of the quests. I would suggest start over before you progress too far.

I didn't tell him to bugger off. The only dialogue options are "I think I'll stay. War brings opportunity..." and "Go to Essos? Why do I care?"
