Updates are a bit overwhelming.
It's been a bit since I've played and I appreciate the dedication to improving the game on behalf of the developers. Games like this are really just a fun release for me and eventually I pick up on the changes from playing. I just started a new campaign on medium difficulty and the very first battle against a pirate controlled system with a small handful of fighters and corvettes completely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ melted all of my rebel cruisers; not the frigates, the heavy cruisers...I'm not sure which change dictated that, but now the game from the very beginning is a HUGE ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ challenge. I'm not here for the challenge, I'm here for the "fun" escape.

You will probably have to look at what the weapons of the opposing force is using, and try to position your fleet accordingly.

Your heavy Cruisers will generally not be able to hit smaller Corvettes and Fighters, while they might have weapons that are very effective against big targets.

If you want a "no-brain, just fight", then this mod is probably not for you, as it aims to add many different layers to combat(a lot of different weapon profiles, armour profiles, speed, targeting etc.).
The mod does have an in-game guide for the various weapons, armour and shield types, as well as general classification of ships("picket" etc.).

yeah I like that this mod makes it so when a small ship holds still star destroyer gunners take after stormtroopers and become braindead yes very cool
