Invisible SSD models in space battles
At first i want to say that idk if it's a bug or a mechanic i don't understand.

So I've been playing full campaign with 191 planes as Empire. This is my second attempt after a half-year break. I got a problem with space battles, especially when selecting ships (mostly SSD). When I want to choose an SSD, there should be a green model of it before spawning, but there's nothing, and when I still decide to put it in the battle, the game crashes. Sometimes it works on a few planets only (and only on a few, like Hapes or Maw, never on a planet where it didn't spawn before like in my case on Kashyyk, Corellia, Mandalore, etc.), but in 99% of cases the game crashes. And before someone writes: "why did you build SSD's? After all, they are practically useless": at first, I didn't know i would get this bug. I played a few eaw mods like thrawn revenge, remake and fall of the republic and I've never had a problem like this. Second things is: why not? I builded it, so I want to use it. I had only a few occasions so far, because in 99% of times the game is crashing when I want to spawn them. Of course, I can seperate SSD's from battle groups, but then i lose a lot of firepower and I'm thinking why i builded them if I can't use them. I'm also worried that when I will finally got to Endor mission (in my first game i didn't manage to go so far because save has corrupted) I won't be able to even start it, because game will crash. And yes, game is also crashing when SSD is in defence. And if you want to say that I can just click automatic results: no. It's not the game if I will be just clicking auto, and when I fight I leave with minimal causalties, and when I'm doing auto result, my casualties are very high, so I want to avoid it.

I tried to reinstall both game and mod, I didn't change anything in game files (I only set a few files to work in Windows 7 compatibility mode and to run as administrator, because previously I had a huge problem with FPS), and everything set on max in options. I have this problem only with SSD's, and sometimes i got it with lancer frigates and victory-class SD.

Hi exotic issue, did you verify steam game cache / local game files via the steam option? Deleted any other mods installed ? U using the latest GPU driver ? Are you using the STEAMMOD=... link to start the mod ? Is steam exe having admin rights ? Are you having a shortage of VRAM ie running on old/obsolete HW ? Did you try setting winxp compatibility mode on the two eaw exe files ? Did you try running in 32-bit mode ?

Yes, I had winxp compatibility mode (in some files so i changed in all to be sure), deleted all the mods, verified steam cache and local files via steam, I'm using latest GPU, using STEAMMOD= to start game (with mod) and setted game version to 32 bit mode before. I only didn't have steam with admin rights, but after setting them, it still didn't work. I'm also not running out of VRAM. Still it's not working (it only made my game go a little faster and smoother). Do you have any more ideas what can i do? (Also thx for help)

Hm....maybe the game is using an iGPU instead of your dedicated graphics card ? Check the pinned diiscussion "Fix for missing/invisible models".

what is your system? cpu and gpu model? how many ram? is it pc or laptop?
have you tried to disable all compatibility features, and bring back x64?

CPU: AMD ryzen 5 3500
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti
8gb of ram

yes i tried to, but my game fps's dropped to 5 fps in menu and started to crash while loading (3 times in a row), and when it finally loaded the error was still there.

Try something:
- "Disable fullscreen opmizations" in windows
- in game settings disable "hardware mouse"
and it is good thing to buy more RAM
and IDK maybe something from this guide will help, but I cant see there anything related to your issue

-You wrote "and everything set on max in options" - did you try to lower graphics settings one by one to see what happens ?
-Also since you only have 8GB RAM perhaps check how much you have available when the game is running.
- There should be logs available (forget where to look, perhaps "event viewer") in Windows you can check that may hint at what the issue is. I have an app called "PGCrashC" that logs any EAW crashes.
- Are you sure there are no remnants of drivers from previous GPUs lying around ? You can check that with DDU.

But exotic issues like this could really be anything sadly including HW issues (RAM/VRAM bad, overheating, overclocking, PSU dying, GPU dying....). The most likely thing you already checked i.e. verified your game files.

Okay i fixed it. I removed the whole XML folder and then I verified the files so that steam would download everything again. I also disabled fullscreen (i had hardware mouse disabled before) like you said. Now it's working. I think the issue was my slow disc, because i have a fast internet, but my disk is very slow and during download it may be "jamming" (idk how to describe it, so to imagine it i will say that my internet speed is on steam up to 30mb/s, while mi disk speed is up 10mb/s), and because of that some of files would not get downloaded or sth (i'm not sure if it's a reason, but it's my theory). Thanks for help guys, you're amazing :)

And about ram: i know i need to buy new one, this is why in next month or two i'm going to get a new disk.
