The Newest Update
THIS MOD IS OUTDATED! THE NEWEST UPDATE IS HERE

https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1697006216

With the release of Man the Guns, I released a stop-gap update for interim compatibility with the 1.6.0 update. However, I'm certain that some features became somewhat wonky with it.

I had previously stated that I would get rid of the states added by this mod, and make it dependent on the "Beautiful States Mod," however, with the recent large-scale changes to the map by Paradox, the mod author had to redo their mod, and as of right now, the mod no longer includes the states added by this mod. Theoretically, I could make the mod dependent, and start the numbering of the states added by this one after the Beautiful States, however, that would be far more work than I am currently wanting to do, and would only distract from my focus on content. If you so wish to change the state numberings of this mod for compatibility and check that there are no conflicts with provinces and what-not, then you are more than welcome to do so at your own risk. When, and if, the Beautiful States Mod gets states in the southern Balkans back in, then I will make this one fully compatible with it.

On a different note, I'm very excited to unveil the new focus tree I am in the process of creating for this mod! I currently have all the focuses named and placed, however, I still need to add their effects. I will be posting pictures of the new focus tree as it stands right now. The non-political aspects of the focus tree (tech bonuses, construction focuses, etc.) will be based on the generic focuses (this will eventually change further down the road, however, it is not the focus on the next major update for this mod, and I'm more concerned with delivering an immersive experience with the political and war aspect of this mod.)

Here's a breakdown of the new paths set by the mod.

Changes to Appointment

Options after Demertzis passes away: Currently, when Demertzis dies, you are given the option to replace him with Tsaldaris, Venizelos, Papagos, Metaxas, or a royal dictatorship. I've gotten praise on the direction, but I've had some feedback about the lack of flavor with the royal dictatorship, on the lack of a republican and/or communist path in the focus tree, and on the faultiness of the event which is supposed to trigger in 1936 (it not triggering.) It also doesn't usually actually trigger on time (historically.)

After the update, a mission will be added at the beginning of the game which, when it expires, will trigger the event. This mission will serve no other purpose than this, but it is NOT the only mission or decision set to be added by this

The event will also change. Instead of being able to appoint Tsaldaris, Venizelos, Papagos, or Metaxas or institute a royal dictatorship, you will only be able to appoint Tsaldaris, Venizelos, or Metaxas.

Constitutional Monarchy

Tsaldaris and Venizelos will both become the leaders of the Democratic party should you choose them. Their section of the focus tree begins with "Form a Government," which has a short completion time. It then splits into "Tsaldaris Government" and "Venizelos Government."

Tsaldaris
If you chose Tsaldaris, you will then have the option to either form a coalition government with the left, or form a grand coalition with the Komma Fileleftheron.
Forming a grand coalition with Tsaldaris at the premiership will give you access to new advisers marked as Venizelists.
Forming a coalition with the left will give you increased political power and stability, at the cost of war support. You will also gain access to new leftist advisers.

Venizelos
If you chose Venizelos, you with have the option to either form a coalition government with Metaxas, or form a grand coalition with the Laikon Komma.
Forming a grand coalition with Venizelos isn't much different from forming one with Tsaldaris, however, you will instead gain access to new conservative advisers.
Forming a coalition with Metaxas will give you increased war support and stability, at the cost of political power. You will also gain access to Metaxist advisers.

Balkan Entente, or Allies
After completing the political aspects of their focus trees, you will either focus towards joining the allies, or forming the Balkan Entente. Joining the Allies gives you the option of requesting the cession of Cyprus from Britain, which they will most likely accept. You will also be able to gain Cyprus through Enosis if you form the Entente, by requesting Britain to hold a referendum (which they will.) However, they might not honor the outcome.

Appointing Metaxas

This is where the other options come into play. Should you appoint Metaxas, he will come to power serving under the fascist party (elections held.) Upon appointing him, you will be hit with a crisis (mission) which will gradually begin adding different negative ideas. How might you deal with these drawbacks?

Historical
If you choose to go down the historical route, you can take the focus "Metaxas Regime" which will immediately remove the negative ideas, replacing them with one: "Apathetic Population." You will regain much of the stability, however, war support will plummet, and the civilian factory requirement will rise. You will remedy these through a mission aimed towards propaganda, and different events which will gradually reduce the apathy until its gone completely.
Regardless of citizen apathy, you can always take the "Strict Neutrality Focus" which is considered historical. If you rid the country of apathy, then you will be able to drift towards the Axis, getting German arbitration for Rhodes, eventually being able to reclaim Asia Minor.

Alternate Paths
If you wish to go down a different path, you can choose not to take the "Metaxas Regime" focus, and either wait for one of 3 of the negative ideas to rise to level 5, and take one of the 3 different paths

Military Dissent This represents unrest among the Antivenizelist military officials. Once it rises past 5, you can take the focus to establish a junta under Papagos
Republican Agitation This represents unrest among Venizelists in Greece. Once it rises past 5, you can take the focus to execute a coup, overthrowing the monarchy and reestablishing the Hellenic Republic
Socialist Unrest This represents unrest among leftists in Greece. Once it rises past 5, you can take the focus to execute a coup, overthrowing the monarchy and establishing a communist Greek state.

Papagos Junta

The Papagos Junta has two splits; enforcing the Junta, or replacing George II with Prince Paul.
Prince Paul represents a move towards new Greek Imperialism, either establishing a New Greek Empire, or becoming the "King of Kings" and restoring the Byzantine Empire (you will still be able to form it through decision though.)
Reinforcing the Junta will eventually end in one of two ways.
1. The Junta writes a new constitution, and restores the parliament. Papagos will either remain as prime minister, or if you desire, replacing him with Papandreou (this is the outcome Papagos prefers, however, he will respect the wishes of the King.)
2. George II becomes an 'Enlightened Despot" with his own benefits.

Communism

The Communist focuses have two splits; the Greek Soviet, and Anti-Stalinism.
Soviet diplomacy focuses on the "socialism in one country" approach and brings you into line with the USSR. This path focuses on fighting the fascists.
Anti-Stalinism will focus on spreading the revolution throughout the Balkans, and eventually forming the Balkan People's Union (a union of Balkan Communist States as a legitimate rival to the USSR) and eventually striking at the USSR. (The BPU will be a formable nation, and not just a faction!)

Republicanism

This represents the restoration of the Hellenic Republic. Or does it?

One path is towards the "Third Hellenic Republic" which focuses on internal improvement and the Megali Idea.

The other path is titled "Pan Balkanism," and focuses on the formation of another new formable nation, the "Eastern Mediterranean Confederation," as a power to fill the power void left by the collapse of the Ottoman Empire.

Both paths eventually lead to joining the Allies.

There's more in store for this update, and its looking a lot like it'll be almost an entirely new mod in its own right. I'm very excited to be working on it, and I hope to bring you all the finished product in good time!

And as thanks for reading through this, here's a glimpse at the new focus tree.
