Complete list of crafting recipes added by Desperate Crafting
Hello,

This is the full list of all the recipe titles added by the mod, for those curious prior to subscribing. Will be updated as future updates add more.

"Make Makeshift Shovel" - by attaching a trowel to a stick.
"Break Shovel Into Trowel" - by breaking off the head with a hammer.
"Make Sack"
"Make Sheet"
"Make Homemade Soap" - using a roughly realistic recipe of animal fat, wood ash, water. Wood ash is implied from the requisite plank/log and lighter/matches.
"Make Towels"
"Reclaim Thread"
"Twist Twine"
"Make Rope"
"Make Homemade Glue"
"Make Big Hiking Bag"
"Make Tarp" - from sheets waterproofed with candle wax, to help make tents from sparse resources.
"Make Saw"
"Carve Sturdy Stick/s" - from various stick-like objects such as rolling pins, bats, etc.
"Write Basic Carpentry Plans" - brainstorm your own Carpentry For Beginners to get a head start. The idea is that you are able to come up with extremely basic carpentry ideas all on your own, as most people probably would be.
"Carve Bowls"
"Make Chipped Stone"
"Make Metal Sheet" - by cleverly melting metal scrap in a square roasting pan.
"Make Scrap Metal" - by cutting up tin cans.
"Make Improvised Knife" - requires metal sheets, but these are now slightly more renewable thanks to the Make Metal Sheet and Make Scrap Metal recipes.
"Carve Baseball Bat"
"Carve Tent Peg" - from sticks, so tents can be more reliably made from gathered components.
"Cut Open [All Canned Food]" - using a knife or saw, takes longer than using can opener. Knives take durability damage.

Hi! Is it possible to have "Twine" and "Thread" from "Rags" \ "Dirty Rags"?
Thanks!

There is a mod called 'Sweater Strings' which allows you to scrap sweaters into 'yarn', which you can then turn into thread or twine. You can also convert the thread into twine, or the twine into thread. I hope this helps.

Yup, got it, thanks very much! :steamhappy:

I probably won't be adding any new items to the game, like yarn. I'm trying to keep this mod as vanilla as possible, partially to avoid bugs/issues.

I'm also trying to keep all the recipes somewhat grounded in reality, and I'm not sure if turning rags into twine is going a bit too far.

Would turning rags into very small amounts of thread be acceptable? Also, is there any logical basis to turn thread into twine or something twine-like? I'm not aware of how twine is usually made, but I'd be happy to include some sort of thread > twine > rope recipes if it makes enough sense.

I think that making Twine and Ropes \ Cordage is categorizable as Bushcraft.

Plenty of other nice videos related to this!

You're right, I've done some research on it and I added a full ripped sheet > thread > twine > rope set of recipes that replace the old "Braid Rope" recipe.

Many thanks! :steamhappy:

There were three recipes on LongWayMod that were very useful that I'd like to suggest for an addition:
- Craft Metal Sheet from Metal Scrap (must "cook" on campfire)
- Craft Metal Scrap using 3 Empty Can
- Craft Kitchen Knife using Metal Sheet and Plank and a Saw

The mod is working great for me and I really aprecciate your effort to create this, thank you very very much!

Thanks!

I'm going to see about doing those today in some form or fashion. I'm not 100% sure how to require a campfire/heat source for certain recipes, or I'd have done it with one or two of them already (especially the soap recipe). We'll see what I can figure out.

Good news! I've figured out how to require nearby items (such as campfires) for recipes to work, so I'm going to be incorporating that into soap as well as adding metal sheet crafting and metal scrap reclaiming. I have an idea for how I can make crafting metal sheets balanced while making it make as much sense as possible.

This should be done by the end of the day, so keep an eye out for a workshop update.
