How far can I take this?

How many followers can I have and are there any housing or territory mods that would go good with this? I would love to be able to develop my own army and hold. My I could just clear out a stronghold somewhere and claim it. Or instal a mod that makes everyone killable, take a hold somewhere and make myself Jarl.
