A hat that changed its model constant wouldn't even need a default model, what would be the point.
THIS IS THE ONLY PERSON THAT GETS IT YOU IDIOTS
I mean it's way more exciting to have a chance to wear a hat you don't have or the one that isn't even available to obtain anymore.
And, I think, the fact that there's so many hats in game right now and the most awesome draws would be pretty rare, balances the value of the random hat enough.
As for way of distribution, workshop artists have no influence on that, so, that's for Valve to decide, I'll be happy if my item gets in game anyway.
@Knusperfrotsch, robotsnivy// The hat is suppposed to be changing its entire model. In fact it would be difficult, maybe even impossible to make it changing the picture in front of the model.
The hat has default model for it to be seen in backpack and character's loadout screen (and workshop presentation).
