Im really like the idea to make trolls more useable in game. Because usually they are waste of money and its very sad, espessialy for the troll's king.
I wanted to ask you offer to you some ideas. Hope you will notice them =).
1) Is there possible to make some "elite" troll's units? Like guards of Throg. Because trolls usually have low leadership and maybe at least some of them will not leave battlefield too soon =)
2) Can you make any possibility to take that trolls for Wulfrick? I mean for example, if he wins Trog, or something else. I just want to be able to have these units from Wulfric. Even if that will challenge, I think to make a way for it will be great!
3) Can we buy more ROR trolls? Maybe future ROR trolls units or TBA which we can already buy, what do you think?
4) Can you make more trolls?) I have idead for example - like Trolls of Nurgle (they will be really best =D), trolls of Chorn and other things like that. Im dont sure how lore it is, but Id be glad to have such units in my army.
After all its just my thoughts and just hope we can speak toghether. Thanks for the mod =)
So for your ideas:
1) Yes I could make such trolls - raising the moral value is not difficult to do from a modding perspective - but I have to be careful not to produce something unbalanced. Trolls bring actually fairly good strength to the table - for their cost - and can cause suprising damage if they aren't focused down or scared off. So far I gave them all the standard low morale since it seems to be the troll gimmick, at least in total war.
2)The idea sounds awesome. I have no idea how to do it, but i think there is a mod out there that does something similar when you beat Archeon as Norsca. So if I can figure out how that is done...then maybe. No promises though.
3&4) These lead in a kind of connected problem for me, so I'll answer them togheter: It is difficult to make a lot of other trolls that look really different. There is a very limited amount of assets & animation for trolls that i can use. That means I am running out of possible combinations fast and almost all that's left are reskins. That being said, I have a few ideas left to try. If they work, there will be a couple more troll units coming and at least 1 of those ideas is a RoR.
1) Yeah, I understand. I belive you know about trolls balance more then me). Just look for improving of your mod more =)
2) Then I and I belive another people will hope on your masterpiece. It will be awesome to see Wulfrick and Throg among army of mods trolls)
3&4) Yes, I understand. Then hope new ideas will come soon. And for 3 offer - Can we for example keep 3 ROR squad in our faction? 1 just too small, as for me of course =)

P.S. Oh, one more. Can we buy ROR trolls in game (I cannot find them)? There was a message that I open them, but I dont see them at ROR units. And what do you think if we replaced one of the building of Throg settlements onto troll's cave? (its just suggestion). Also, is that normal - that armored ice trolls have smaller HP then usual ice trolls? I know, it maybe balance, but can you explain it (all stats of ice trolls higher the armored, except armor of course)?
And one more, your river trolls have ice breath - is that normal?
1)The RoR unit is recruited from the landmark building in Erengrad (personal preference, i like the idea to reward people with RoRs for landmarks).
2) I think you mean the starting building? I would love to do that, but I dont really want to edit the startpos file (because that is a pandoras box leading to incompatibilities) and all my attempts to do it with scripting failed. If i find a way to do it without messing with the startpos file, then sure.
3)I just double checked, and armoured ice trolls have better armor and melee defence than the normal ice trolls. Everything else is the same. You probably have a mod activated that makes normal ice trolls better, and since i balanced mine based on the unmodded version the armoured trolls now appear weaker for you.
4) The breath animation and particle effect are tied into the animation, sadly. And since i used throggs model as base for the rivertrolls, i had to use throggs animation (no other troll animation works with his model because of the cape) and therefore the ice breath. I would have preferred the vomit effect too.

3) Oh, yes, sorry for my foolishness. I forgot that mods can edit units and of course they can change their balance and that why your trolls could be worse then normal. Then its my problem, but thanks for answer =)

Hope we really can see troll lord from you. Im just was suprised that there is no monster lord for Throgg, I mean... He is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ TROLL, where is his monster lords?! But probably you will change that situation). Wish you good luck with mod, thank you. I probably will be wait for a newest version before start the campagin. Want to see new units and maybe Wulfrick which can used them too.
Because I was looking at some of the upgrades and all, and it seems like they could be possibly more powerful than Throgg and kind of overpowered, even for a super upgraded monster lord.
That being said I will probably rebalance the blood and food skills with the next update. I don't really think that the baseline stats of the Troll Lord should be much worse.
Unrelated to that, I also think a problem with Throggs strength in campaign is his very lackluster trait. +1 public order and +2 corruption locally are really minor effects. Immunity to attrition for the lords army would be great - in another faction. Norscan armies happen to be immune to most of the relevant attrition types for their area of the map anyways. Siege attacker is the only really useful part of the trait, but he really should have that one built in already imho. I might change that too with the next update....if i have a good idea for it.
I have some soggestions
1) Make some ranged troll. Like using trogg ability to use his ability for constant.
2) Make trolls all have unique skin for wintertootch.
3) make norsca use some winter manticore or something...
4) Is it possible for river trolls and troll heroes ude some new weapons.
1) Tried pretty much exactly that and wasn't really able to make it work. Not sure whether it is possible or not, but at least I don't know how to make an ability like that right now.
2) I might do that, but right now I prefer to make new units and leave the old ones (mostly) untouched. So it is low priority at best.
3) I'll consider it.
4) Oh I have tried that. A lot. But so far all of the other weapons I tried either attach weirdly to the troll model and look suprisingly stupid and/or fragile when held by trolls. But it is possible that I have overlooked a suitable weapon, so if i happen to find it, it will probably go to the troll lord first.
