How to get them Harvesting
To get them to harvest goto the menu select Harvesting and enable harvest resources
Then select Send Harvesting then select the range you want them to stay around.

They will not harvest if they are set to follow.
They will start as soon as you get them to not follow.
Even if they leave the area chasing enemys they will return back to where they were told to harvest.

To get them to harvest in a new area just take them to the area and tell them to harvest again

Make sure you have the storage items you wish that NPC to use within 6 steps (about 10 meters) of where the NPC is when you tell the NPC to harvest, If you want to adjust their start position just make them follow you to the new position and use the pie to send harvest again and the distance you wish then set them to unfollow (look at them and press Y) They will now use storage items within 6 steps of this new position.

The 6 steps (about 10 meters) is now adjustable in the GUS.INI with the below setting
StorageItemsSearchRadius=(any number) Range in meters
1 game step is just under 2 meters

Below is what each type uses (Just look at what weapon they hold)

Punch (No Weapon) -- Crop-plots,Feedtrough,Compost Bin,Preserving Bin,Fridge,Storage
Spear -- CampFire,Torches,Feedtrough,Preserving Bin,Fridge,Storage
Hatchet -- CampFire,Torches,Forge,Preserving Bin,Fridge,Storage
Sword -- CampFire,Torches,Preserving Bin,Fridge,Storage
Bow -- CampFire,Torches,Feedtrough,Preserving Bin,Fridge,Storage
Bola -- CampFire,Torches,Preserving Bin,Fridge,Storage
Club -- Compost Bin,Crop_Plots,Preserving Bin,Fridge,Storage

--NOTE --
Harvest Resources must be enabled
Selecting harvest distance again will reset their StorageItemsSearchRadius center spot

You can stop the NPCs using a storage box by naming it notauto
Poop no longer goes in storage boxes unless you name a storage box poopbox
then only poop will go into that storage box


NPCs will add wood to Standing and Wall Torches and light them at night and put them out during the day.
You can add a weapon torch to the wall or standing torch and the NPCs will not turn it on or off.
or you name the container NOAUTOLIGHT this will not allow NPCs to turn it on or off, like generators.

Bow -- will randomly instigate an attack on small dinos
Spear -- will catch fish
Hatchet -- will gather stone, metal, flint and more.
Sword -- will gather wood and thatch and more.
Punch -- will gather berries, poop and seeds. Knockout Dinos
Bola -- will randomly instigate an attack with Moschops, Parasaurs, Phiomias and Sheep
Club -- will gather poop, fiber and thatch,Knockout Dino's.

Some may work but designed and tested for vanilla only - and no I can not make it happen for all other mods

just to be sure, by step you mean "feet"? because 6 feet are 1.8m not even close to 10m

Game Foot Steps - count the steps your avatar takes (6 of them = about 10 meters) - they are about 1.8 each - unless you know of a tape measure in the game that everyone would have, it was the best measuring stick I could come up with a short notice.

Is this compatible with S+ storage?, I have my guys gathering but they dont seem to drop it off anywhere except for 1 campfire.

Hello. Server I play on just started using the mod so we are learning. When harvesting is it out of the blue in an area or do I need to take them outside my walls so they can actually harvest trees and shrubs? Also does the melee effect how much they harvest? Thank you.

Yes they need the resources so there has to be trees for them to get wood, Melee may help a little

Hi, i just wanted to ask about the finer points, I set the "punch" to harvest poop, crops, and seeds as designed but they did not put them in the storage bins as I expected. I placed one stack of each crop in a fridge, 2 poop and 1 stack thatch in a compost bin, 1 stack of each seed in a large storage bin, filled 1 stoage bin with fetrilizer, set them to harvest resources then sent them to work using near and close range in my 2 by 4 foundation greenhouse. They harvested crops, seeds, "berries/berry seeds(out of thin air)" and picked up their poop but it seemed they were holding on to most everything. Nothing seemed to be going into the right places. crops were never put in the refridgerator, seeds were not put in the large storage bin, I seen fertilizer in their inventory but the large storage bin was still full(cant say if pulled from crop plot or compost bin outside of the wall), no fert was put in the crops but I did see 2 poop. they did harvest the crops and seeds in their defence but like any good employer I fired them, they now work at the docks guarding my beach side babies... lol let me know if this is just something you're still working out, if I need to do something different, or if im over reaching on ablity.

I MAY BE OVER REACHING ON THEIR ABLITY!

They do take some time before they work sometimes, for me it took multiple ingame days before they started depositing food in the trough and then they filled it completely in very little time.

Some things do seem a bit finikity though like its rare my guys restock the campfires but will happily store the wood in a box next to it.

nice, i will try to let the recognition system get rolling but, i play single player... not sure if each load will reset it. I like them for a few reasons, I wanted archers on my castle walls, turret mode rocks! lol, I really dont need the wood, stone collectors as I like my my trees and rock around my base but that is awesome and see many uses for them. Punch, Spear, Bow is my focus. I needed a Gardener, Stable Hand, and Ranged Turret to automate and sentry for me. I think the Spear and the Punch can be coordinated to work together to acheive compost bin to storage to crop though. spear pick up poo, put in compost bin, take fert out, put in sorage bin. punch takes from storage bin, puts in crops! system cycle complete! I would like it more if they only put poop in the compost bin as well! =)

Hi Guys unfortunately the path finding through buildings and such is not the best for the the NPCs
I have not found a way to make them move to a location all I can do is ask and if they have an issue with that spot well they just wont go there.

I recently found that they have issues with unlevel ground if the hight difference is greater a few meters even on a gental slop they wont go there, I did find away to get them home after chasing a dino down a slop (not cliff)

They are asked to go to a spot 1.5 meters infront of a container (about where you stand when placing it)

they are asked to goto and check a ramdom container (excluding Preserving bin and storage boxes) then harvest again, they do this 3 times then they visit a Preserving bin then harvest and then a Storage box then harvest then back to ramdom containers again,
They won't take things out of Preserving bins or Storage boxes that's where they put stuff to stop getting over full

Note : StorageItemsSearchRadius is for each individual NPC (the range it will search for containers from where you tell it to harvest distance)

selecting harvest distance again will reset their StorageItemsSearchRadius center spot

Remember guys to when you send them harvesting they must be within StorageItemsSearchRadius (if default 10 meters) also the bigger the StorageItemsSearchRadius and the more containers in that radius the less chance that all the random containers will get used

@Darkside99x If they are having issues with a campfire get a sword person to follow you to colse to the campfire and select harvest distance again (this will reset their StorageItemsSearchRadius
center spot) then tell them to unfollow


@Hytindrus it should not reset when loading from a saved game, also they may have issues with walls in the greenhouse also take note to what was suggested to Darkside99x about resetting the start spot for the search radius
