As I understand it's inspired by Viera race from FF12 and Khora Mithra. At least these ears have quite similar proportions to the first and design to the second. There are a few problems with these ears, though:
1. Thy kinda just stick out of helmet. There is no "projector" or connection point. They just stick out of it and that's all. It's not really nice.
2. They may look better if you rotate them outwards slightly. Basically look at Viera and notice how their ears are directed in sligtly opposite directions. Or, well, at pretty much any bunny.
3. With all these energy exhaustion ports (or whateer it is) on the Nova's body it might be a good idea to decorate these ears like these ports and even give them some volume. Or like crystals on Khora's Mithra skin.

Also, please notice that energy plates on Khora Mithra have volume to them.
