I made a tau.lua here[www.dropbox.com] for the VW mod to use the Tau faction. Just toss it in to VoidWanderers.rte/Factions, and also in that folder, modify Factions.cfg (notepad works) and add a new line for tau.lua like how it's done for Dummy.lua, etc at the top.

Speaking of, I gave them Disruptor Grenades and the Dummy dropship for wild encounters. Also mind the Devilfish, I left it possible to get, but it's not suited for navigating the player ship.

There are 2 glitches that occur when playing as the Tau/Tau units in VW. You won't notice these problems if they're just AI enemies.


PULSE RIFLE PROBLEM; Techion also has a Pulse Rifle, since they have the same name as Tau, when you pull one out of storage, you will get the Techion one instead. To fix this, you need to go into tau.rte/Devices/Weapons and modify(notepad) PulseRifle.ini. Go to the bottom of the txt file and paste this line of code in;
AddDevice = HDFirearm CopyOf = Pulse Rifle PresetName = Tau Pulse Rifle
Copy the Enter strokes as well for safety. Then in the tau.lua, scroll down for the Pulse Rifle and rename it to Tau Pulse Rifle. It's mentioned toward the middle of the file, closer to the bottom.


WEAPON SPAWNING; By design, every Tau unit comes pre-equipped with their standard loadout. This is super convenient in Campaign/Skirmish, but makes a weird bug in VW. Every time the unit goes from the ship into a mission or back, it will spawn this set of weapons, even if it has them equipped already.

I reccomend to change the FireWarrior.ini, maybe the Stealthsuit and CrisisSuit as well if you want. But it is really simple. You're looking for this/similair code:
AddInventory = HDFirearm CopyOf = Rail Rifle

You will find this near the bottom, then scroll up as this file defines all of the Tau infantry (excluding suits). You can stop looking after you reach individual body parts.

But you don't actually say what we're supposed to change. Am I supposed to delete the code? alter it? What?

Yup, meant to delete it. My bad.

Those 2 lines make it so every time you change areas with a fire warrior, they will spawn a new pulse rifle.
