Format for overlay?

I would like to create an overlay to be used for this addon ( seeing as you so greatly added an input for one).

What I am wondering.

Will 1920x1080 work well?

Can I use a png with transparency that is uploaded to imgur and use that link? or will it need to be a vtf with an alpha mask?

I actually dont know, there used to be a material file that came with, it was blue hexagons. You will need to use a vtf but I have no idea how it will work on different resolutions if the image is a specific size. Thats all the overlay input does is slap it on the HUDpaint function using a given material string
