We can do away with those spikes
Also the blade at base needs to be thicker, looks like it's going to just snap.

With a closer zoom you can see there is actually something at the base of the blade, rather than just a fiery wisp of something. I can go on about saying how heating the base means when you use it to poke or slash the base will come off because it's softened but you get the idea. It's still really really thin though, and rapiers are suppose to pierce, that means the hook at the end of the blade counteracts that and makes it completely unusable. Not to mention the backwards curve, like what the hell is the point of that?

That's what it would be if we're trying to be realistic, lol. But even in a fantasy setting like Warframe, that thing looks pretty miserably slim.

And? The Volnus is an axe with blades made of GLASS. If Warframe were "realistic", the Volnus would break and become useless the second you swung with enough force to hurt someone.

The Destreza, a rapier in this game, has a wide curve before the very thin blade. Realistically, this would throw off the weight and likely add to the fragility of the weapon.

Endura, the other rapier in this game, has an even more fragile design, with the blade held onto the weapon only by the back of the blade.

And then there's the gunblades. Just... Gunblades. Do I even need to explain this one?

Also, let's not forget that if you make a melee weapon focus on fire damage, you end up with a burning blade.

So, what was that about realism?

Read my hast bit.

Destreza has a pretty awful looking grip and all, I agree. Endura is just two needles, I get that too. But I wasn’t pointing out how realistic Warframe should be, I’m talking about the guy saying that I don’t know what a rapier is. I’m pointing out to him how applying realisic standards will absolutely ruin this weapon.

I’m just pointing out a small bit that’s even unreasonable even with Warframe standards applie, lol.

Read the last bit.

What about it? You initially dismiss all of what they mentioned before as "that's only if it were realistic", but then say that even in a fantasy setting, this looks "miserably slim", which implies that its design invalidates the exceptions made for designs via a fantasy setting and allows it to be judged by how unrealistic it is, which is what my point was. This game is not realistic whatsoever, even by normal fantasy standards. Things that would never be possible, or never work, somehow work in Warframe.

EDIT: edit was done to the post, so I'll edit mine.

But it's not unreasonable even by Warframe standards. There are tons of weapons that would never, ever work due to their designs.

How does the Jaw Sword work with its incredibly thin blade joined to a wider one? Wouldn't it just break really easily?

How does Silva & Aegis function? How do you hold a burning shield? What suspends the parts of the shield? How is the sword sustaining the fire blade?

What even is Karyst's blade? That thing could never reliably cut anything without getting stuck in it completely.

There is no possible way the Jat Kittag's handle would hold up with that massive, heavy hammer head. That thing would break after maybe ten good swings or so at best.

Again, Volnus has blades made of glass. They would shatter.

The point is, Warframe doesn't really care about whether or not it's possible, or whether or not it's ridiculous. All Warframe cares about is whether or not it suits the themes of the game, and whether or not it looks cool.

This perfectly embodies the crude brutality of Grineer weapons, and it looks cool. In the end, that's all that matters.

Faven has a direct line to my CC at this point .. dont change a thing. BTW , I own a real rapier , this looks fine in compairsion. If you want to critique it, a real rapier would not have a fish hook tip .. but this is a game , and this looks fuxing awesome .. so ...Thx
